I used to carry a little 3" x 3" piece of 1/4" plywood with me just for soft places.....put it under the stand and it won't sink.

I doo the same... it is a piece of 2x6x6. i routed a bit of a notch on one side so the kickstand had something to grip. I use it mostly for when i go to the cottage as there is only grass to park on. Sometimes i will use it if i am parking on a funny incline too.

I carry a sawed off oar handle, in case I forget to put the kickstand down, I'll simply knock the poor bastard out closest to me and claimed they pushed my bike over
