250 rpm gain from 32 T to 31 T for quicker take-offs... also you can richen up the main for more top end and you will use more fuel

+1 I don't think it's possible to hit the rev limiter in 5th gear anyway.

Has anyone done it?

We hit the REV Limiter when we did the stock dyno run and it was at 4250 when my Roadstar maxed out at 115 MPH.

Yeh, well, on a dyno, there's no wind resistance. That's what typically stops the progress of a top-end run. So, hitting the 4,250 rev limiter equals 115 mph... if you can get there on a road cutting through the air. Seems most report getting topped out at about 105.

Never been there on my R* myself... 85 was about it. Here in the NE, we're limited as to where we might dare try to top out.

Funny thing. When I had my Suzuki M50 (800cc) I got that machine up to 118. But I have not opened up my r* yet. I had it to 100 and backed off.

Spent a lot of time in the triple digits when I was out west, especially Nebraska. The R had no problem with it, in fact felt very smooth, I do have a 2009 1700cc FI with no engine mods.

Ps: Starkruzen did you used to be on the motorcycle journal forum when you had your M-50?
Thats the forum I was on when I had My M-50.
