I think it's more like Ford making a Mustang. It is a bike "model" that Yamaha makes. Just like the Strato;iner is a "model" that yamaha makes or a Dyna is a model Harley makes.

It is much the same as Polaris is the parent company. It has divisions of Victory, Indian and can am.

Star motorcycles is basically a division of Yamaha. I would assume Star motorcycles has its own designers and marketing department, but the building they goto work in says Yamaha on the outside.

I think can-am is owend by ski-doo (rotax) I hope this isnt ware the fight begins

Oops Bonbardier owens ski-doo and Can-am. They no longer own rotax but still use there engines.
