Got my new MS batwing yesterday and just tried it out for the first time today and I'm a little disappointed. There's nothing wrong the product, it's the function. The wind now blows up in my chin, which is real annoying and the wind I did like that used to blow into my jacket and cool me off is gone. So that's two strikes. A third lesser issue is it reflects the engine sound and I now hear the valves [which I never did before] and the gear whine is considerably more noticeable. Unfortunately, I don't think I can return it now that it's been mounted, so what are my options? Is there anything that can be done about any of these issues?

It 's a drag, because I really like the way it looks, but I'm not at all thrilled about what it does to the riding experience.

You can cut the shield down as low as you like, mine is down to about 4", I still get the wind in my face, just the way it should be.

If you put your hand across your chest and it blocks the negative pressure airflow and updraft that blows into your face ( I had to cut my beard down because it was snapping me in the face) gimme a hollar and I got a sure fire way to stop it.

Dude, ebay. Take it as a loss. We've all bought mods that weren't as cool as we expected.

Well, a radio will help with the engine music. Curts lowers will remove alot of that updrafting air but then you will get even less air on you. So I guess you need to figure out what you want to do now. I know with me I spent way to much trying to mount my saddlebags (i wasted allmost $400) so I know what its like paying for something and not being happy with the results.

smoke - what didn't you like about your bags?

I like the bags it was the mounting brackets that I wasted the money on. Tried ez brackets ($140)and the bags floped around and rattled even spent another few bucks trying to modify them with no luck. Then ordered a set of rs saddlebag brackets ($175) and the bags sitting 2 miles from the fender I hated. So I finally gave in and got the baddad brackets ($400) and still had to get creative with the brackets by moving the bags back 2" cause the stock seat is to dang wide.

Did you have the stock windshield before you went with the batwing? If so, throw a set of chrome HD touring lowers on there and it will make a huge difference.

I have a MS Batwing with the wings and made a set of lowers from Curt's instructions and made them a little longer (or taller). I have very little wind and no buffeting. I don't smoke but I could smoke a cigarette at 70 mph behind mine. I have the nine inch windsheild. I placed a foam strip between the headlight and fairing stopping unwanted air flow and rain. You may have to play with different fairing postions. It is a little cooler with the original Silverado windshield and lowers.

Sounds like I need lowers... I do have a Silverado, but every-thing's been removed. I had to take the stock windshield mount off to install the MS batwing. How are the lowers supposed to be mounted in this case?

Also, I did adjust the windshield forward as much as it would go and that did help some. Unfortunately it hits the headlight and prevents me for using the full adjustment. Does this sound right? Should the fairing be hitting the headlight like that? There's almost no gap at all between the headlight and fairing.

Nothing ever seems easy...it's a give and take. Like when I lowered my bike, I like the look and the low seat height, but it scrapes my pipes on right turns and hit's the frame if I go over a speed bump. Much worse with two up.

Lowers will help for sure.

Wasn't there a problem with them stress cracking? That was my first thought but I heard a lot were replacing them because of that.
