I got my Metz in today and the new tube. Turns out that my new tire is a Brazil tire. Hoped it would be German, but no such luck. I talked to the stealer, they are gonna put the tire on next wednesday or thursday.
I have also noticed that my rear brake pedal is going down more when I apply the brake. I mentioned to them that I want the rear pad checked and made sure they had a set in stock. What is the average life of a rear pad ? I'm not an abusive rider, I don't tend to ride the brake pedal hard.
And thanks again for all the input fellas.

I liked the way they road also, for a while.
NEVER AGAIN
**** And Yes ****
I have not found anyone haveing problems with the German made ones.
But I would not put another set on my bike if you gave them to me. Hell I would not if you paid me.

BamaStar - Beautiful bike! After having your tire problem, did you contact the tire dealer or Metzeler? Just curious as to what they told you.......

Hi ladies and germs,
I’ve been riding with Bridgestone OEM G702/G703 since day one, but from what you guys are saying about the Metz M880, I think they’re goanna be the next rubber on my bike next season.
Here’s what I got out of my Bridgestone. Think the overall performance is not bad.
1st set of G702: 14,165 miles, 2nd set: 15,540 miles, 3rd set: 13,260 miles up to date, thread is good for a few hundreds miles more.
1st set of G703: 25,300 miles (I’m not kidding) 2nd set: 17,660 miles up to date and it’s almost worn out, thread is already down to ± 1/16'', big gap with the first one!
Only one thing worries me though, heard many times the Metz wears out much faster than Bridgestone because of their more tender rubber composition, is that a fact?

That's correct .... they are softer.
It's a trade off - high performance but less mileage.
I'll have around 10 k when mine will need to be changed.

I’m very anxious to try them, but unfortunately, I must wait until spring, god damn winter!
They’re must be a lot of you who can ride all year around, especially those who lives in the west, I’m so envious!

I've had Dunlop, Bridgestone, and now Metz on front & rear. I'm willing to sacrifice mileage for performance. The ME880's are smooth, quiet, sticky and do well in the rain. It won't bother me at all if there's fewer miles between replacement. Being a former knee dragger, my tires have a fairly wide "wear spot" as I tend to lean it over and drag the floor boards on a regular basis. I'm just too old to ride crotch rockets anymore.

Many dealers warned me not to put wider tires on my RS, they told me it’s much preferable to stick with the original width for security sake, from what I’ve been reading here, I'm beginning to think that’s a lot of horse hockey!
So instead of the Metz M880 150mm, I’m goanna try the wider 160mm. I’m looking forward to a smoother ride and better handling.
Like Doc and DayStar01, I will sacrifice mileage for a good sticky tire.
Tourlou,
RG

Re:Metzeler 880 rear tire....a good one ? 4 Years, 5 Months ago

Hi guys,
I want to go with the ME 880 next summer but I just saw on the Metz web site that all the tire number finish with the code TL, and realized it means tubeless tire, so my question is, will those fit with my spokes wheels because I need a tube in there or do I need a model especially design to receive a tube, and if so, what would be the tire code number?
Thanks in advance.

Just run with the tube.
Or you can have your rim sealed if you have money laying around.
