Hmmm. Think that Motto might belong to New Hampshire (at least that is what it says on my license plate).

I think Vermonts motto is "its not easy being green" nope that's Kermit the Frog's.

BTW Vermont has a Helmet Law, so does NH but just for riders under 18 years of age.

I used to go helmet free when younger, guess I'm getting older and wiser since I wear one now. You do see a lot of folks with no helmets around here and I would really hate to see any law introduced it's my choice dammit.

Yep no helmet law, no income tax and no sales tax, gotta love that motto.

I have picked up a fellow biker a time or two in my 22 yrs of ems. I choose to wear or not wear a helmet and can tell you there is a constant battle of the big if. If you wear a helmet it might save you, but it is the question of what did you save. I ride for freedom just like I run in burning houses. Ok never ran in a burning house I walk it's safer honest.
The point is if it is a matter of safety and saving money what do they save.

I hold myself responsible for my actions and reactions. Many a man and women has given these rights to my at the cost of their lives. Why does the govt. forget about the brave who died for our freedom. Let us never forget and constantly remind govt it is for the people by the people and not by the bottom line!!!

We have mandatory helmet laws here in VA and I wish that it was optional, but it is not. I am a "wind in your hair and bugs in your teeth" kind of guy"!

My advice is that if you are going to wear a helmet, then wear a good one (i.e., DOT/SNELL approved). Those little turtle shell helmets may look "cool", but offer no real protection in an accident.

This is always a touchy subject. I do not have a choice in Ga, but if I had a choice I would still choose to wear a helmet. I agree with most about the Gov not imposing more regulations on us. I also make my choices not based on what the government says. If I err I rather err on the safe side, so I don't get caught up in the politics. I look at it like this am I safer with or without a helmet? This choice is obvious for me. Even though my head is so hard it will not grow hair I don't think its hard enough to withstand even a 10 mph knock on the pavement.

Don't get me started!!! I know helmets are a valuable piece of gear, but I say it should be an individuals choice whether to wear one or not.

Missouri has a mandatory helmet law for all ages but any time I get out of the state (none of the boardering states except Neb. have helmet laws for riders over 21) the helmet comes off. The only time I'll wear a helmet when the law says I don't have to is in incliment weather.

As one of the earlier posts said; Let Those Who Ride Decide!!

Re:Helmet law 5 Years, 9 Months ago
Don't misunderstand. I am not questioning the freedom of choice or any other right. Just using the photo to make a statement on the reason to wear a helmet.
But as long as you have made my post an argument of rights which it was not I will say this.
I do believe that just because there is a document stating the right to freedom of choice, that it does not mean that all those choices are right just because it is a so called right. Also the elected government sometimes has to protect us from ourselves whether we like it or not. Take for example the use of cell phones and text message while driving that governor Arnold S. has just put a bill in place to prevent. How many motorcyclists have been injured or killed by someone using a text message device or phone while driving. AT which point is ones rights wrong?
