Max air 8 Months, 4 Weeks ago
I am about to put some roadhouse doolies on the beast and thought I may change the air intake as well. I really like the looks of the Max air and was wondering if the jet kit they sell with it is the best one for the install . There are so many configurations for stage one mods on this forum I would like to just copy some one elses success story and hopefully save myself a lot of trial and error. Also would a ported manifold be wise?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. My bike is an 05 Silverado
Thanks....Pat.

What are looking for out of the bike ? In its stock form its a helluva runner and so reliable it's easy to take for granted.

All the mods you mention are popular and frequently discussed, if you think the bike needs improvement any or all would be good to try but if ya just want to turn some wrenches and tinker with the bike a cost effective and beneficial course of action would be to go thru the recommended service procedures for a bike with your mileage plus things like a good carb clean an inspection of the intake for leaks checking the valve clearance cleaning up and inspecting the battery and elect connections testing the compression replacing the fuel filter and plugs lubeing the cables all are very satisfying work and are often rewarded with a better feel overall when riding the bike.

I never ended going down the re jet BAK & pipes route but I considered it and shopped hard and researched lots.

MY 2 cents is that the maxair while having many happy users of the products the general consensus is the Jetting is too rich and the actual air cleaner can be bought generically for a lot less money. On the other hand the Baron jet kit seems to be the most widely used kit with lots of hands on experience across a broad range of different type riders it would be my hands down choice if I ever decided to chase more performance. Also I have bought installed and use several of the Barons products and have yet to disappointed with any of them and the installation procedure was well outlined in the instructions and all the components have fit and worked as stated .

There are alot of nice intakes out there. I looked at most of them before I settled on the max-air (mostly cause I liked the looks). I got the max-air with their jet kit. It was such an easy install. Just followed the instructions and haven't had to tinker with it since. It was a set-it and forget-it kind of thing.

I went with their jet kit because thats what all their tech support refers to, and I figured if I ever had any issues it would be easier to explain and find a sollution to.

Also, if you call with any questions they are extreamly helpful and they have their own forum regaurding any install questions. I bugged the crap out of them before I pulled the trigger and bought one...

Oh, also ported my manifold while I was in there. It was easy to do, I figured why not. Just make sure you read up on here about re-sealing the intake properly with oversized o-rings and some goo

Nice I'd go with that if I didn't have my K&N.

There is not much discription. Do they mean the whole filter or just the part showed?? If it is complete I am interested too.
I used to run the Maxair and I loved it. Gave a lot extra power.
I drove a 1600 of 2000 with hooker pipes and the maxair and further nothing done to it and it did 75 HP and 135 torque.
