Surprised to hear that, between 2 bikes have approx 140k on metz 40psi f 42psi r. Never had a issue dry/wet rds. both bikes got 15k r Honda1100ACE fr got 22k Roadie fr 28k. any way, I've gone thru my share of Metz

Recently went to Shinko 777, very similar tread pattern, I find them to handle the same as Metz. Same psi, but only get 14k r, 22k fr. (on my 3rd rear)

My friends 05 has 130K all on Metzeler's except for the first 8k on the tires that came with the bike.He gets 10-12k on the rear and 20+ out of the front. He rides iron butt rides in all kinds of weather and has never had a problem.I love them on my 05 but do not ride as many miles as him.I do know that some people do not inflate these as high as they should.42 rear-40 front. If mine get low they do not feel right.

I just installed a set front and rear on my 01 Roadie on the recommendation of the riders of this site and have been very happy with the way they handle and ride, seems like a different bike now with the ME880's on it,hoping for better mileage than my Dunlops got,how do you judge wet handling of a tire if it is already worn out or did you have issues before it was bald?

I have had my metz 2 summers now and NO problems i did hear that they had a bad batch made in Brazil i think i read that on this site before i bought mine . I mentioned this to the store that i bought them as when mine came in they were from Brazil BUT i have had NO problem with them BUT you have to have them 42 cold pressure as the Metz site suggests

A darkside tire is highly unlikely to do any of that. A drop of oil, gas, deisel, anti freeze on the road surface will slip even the best of tires. Especially when you mix a little rain in.

I bought two sets of Avon's the first set was great, the second set wore out fast and the front dry rotted and cracked, they recalled that batch but of course after I took it off and threw it away.

I have just recently gone to the Metz. I love these tires. The PO put dunlop d404's on 'er and never did the right PSI, so I got stuck with a POS tire for last season. Switched to the WWW Metz me880 and I love them! Can scrape pegs around every corner with no slipping.

Can't speak for Metz personally, as I am a loyal Avon tire guy, but based on the data provided by the many users here on this site 5,000 miles is extremely low mileage and begs the question what is going on here. That is 50% of what most report, so either you ran them under extreme conditions, or too many burn outs

I have a set of Bridgestone’s (Exedra) on my Roadstar - they work fine, I can drag the floorboards in long sweepers and they are stable. They are getting worn down and I thought hey, I'll buy some Metzlers (the PO put the Bridgestone’s on).

Anyways I was very surprised to hear that some folks had bad experiences with the Metzlers, I always ran Metzlers on my sport bikes and they worked awesome.

I guess my suspicion is that they were operated with incorrect tire pressure, Metzler is very susceptible to bad handling when the tire pressure is low (low AP will also prematurely wear out the tire). For some reason Metzlers like to be inflated extremely high (like 42psi)

Tires are made with oil aren't they? Oil prices are up. Just figures tires would go up too.[/quote]

No. Tires are made from rubber which comes from rubber trees

and oh yeah my me 880's work great in all weather over 3000 miles and they both look practically new and I DON'T ride it easy
