Anybody have the part number for the nut for the 2006 and up?
Will it fit 2005 sooner?
Seems to me we can all save a lot of grief if we just buy the nut and put it on.
Or if we could find out spec's of the nut we might be able to source locally.
Over to you tech weenies......

2005 has a a replacement part for the original lock washer it is NOT the same as for the 2006 and up. The made the change to the new set some time in 2005 most likely in the later part of 2005 after they became aware of the problem. Here is a link see item 72 & 73 you can check these against the 2006 part#'s as well. Parts

Or do as I did and tighten the hell out of it with red locktite. I figure if I need to remove it I can heat up the nut and impact it off.

ATTENTION! It's not only a prior to 06 Problem. Mine dropped off at speed on my 07 @ 48554 Miles. So EVERYONE needs to pay attention to this. Red Threadlock it.

It seemed to me the metal is soft that bends down and locks into the grooves, over time it bends it back up and its same as a prior 06.

If you don't believe me, I can provide witnesses. It happened on the Foothills parkway on the way to the Tail of the dragon.

Question I asked yesterday that never got answered on a similar thread.....How, and Why does this spline/washer/nut occurance happen??

It *SHOULD NOT* happen. because the locking washer is there to keep the nut from backing off. The only way nut can back off, is being improperly installed from the factory.

Cheers!
