Ignition Mod. Check 4 Years, 10 Months ago
Hi,

I thought I would get more revs out of the motor with a newer ignition module for my 03 R*, so I bought an advertised 05 module from E-bay for $43.00. I opened the box and at first sight was disappointed that the serial number on the module started with 4WM - 00. I thought the "4WM" serial number designation was for 03 and earlier models, and that "5WM" was for 04 and up. Does this mean I was taken on E-bay?

Is there anyway to tell if this is an 05 ignition module by looking at it?
Here is the full number markings:
J4T098
71 4WM-00 8X27

Exterior
Interior

Thanks for any information on this one.

I also just bought a CDI from a forum member who said it was from an 05' It is marked J4T098 71 4WM-00 9402 on the plastic cover.

Does anyone know what nos. the 99-03' and 05's and up have on the actual CDI Cover? I've seen a few listed on eBay with J4T098 that say in the ad 99-03'????

Did we get screwed unintentionally?

Thanks guys, looks like we got the older CDI instead of the new one. Obviously, that won't do anything to raise the rev limit for us. I'll contact the guy I got it from and see what he says.
