tire problems 1 Year, 8 Months ago

Replaced my original tires and put on Metzler 880. When I went for a ride the bike was all over the place. It felt like I was riding in badly grooved pavement . I took it back and they put on another front tire which improved it a little. I noticed the handling at speed up to 65 mph.is greatly improved, especially in the twistys . Once I get up to 70 the bike feels twitchy . Is it me, was I just so used to the old cupped tires I had that now I have to give it time to adjust ? Has anyone else experienced over sensitive handling with Metzlers ?

Check your tire pressure, make sure the installer has the rotation arrows in the proper direction and the dots are @ the valves. Remember it takes a couple hundred miles to break these tires in.Next thought would be balancing.I run the same tires with Dyna beads. If you go that route be sure to remove the weights.

break in on 880´s? bugger all, and it ain´t the problem.
check the bead of the tyre is properly seated all the way round the rim on both wheels. this would affect the handling a lot.
something that folks notice, and i advise them about when i´ve fitted new tyres, is that going from a squared off worn tyre to a new round one can feel a bit disconcerting.

Erizo's right. I just went to a new 160 metz from a worn out 150 metz and it took a little while to get used to the ride. Felt really sensitive until I got used to it. Love it now!

Check tire alignments. If your handle bars aren't square to the travel of the bike the front end could be tweaked and the fork tubes might be out of alignment. I have new tires on now and it had been twitchy at highway speed. Got the alignment straight and now rides better.
