We build it , Your on your OWN !!! 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Dealer called Yamaha about the lose pulley nut and said not a know issue and being
out of warranty YOUR ON YOUR OWN !!!!!
Like my Roadstar but you can bet your bottom dollar I will not be buying another Yamaha.
I can't stand it when a company will not stand by their product. That nut should NEVER come lose.

DITTO !!
We work on ALL makes of motorcycles at the shop & we see fewer Yamahas than any of the others. The ones that do come in (as well as the Hondas) are in for tires or service. We've been here for over three yrs. now, and haven't had one Yamaha come in for major work.
As for the Company/Dealer thing, don't take it personally. They'll bone anybody the same way they boned you.

Yeah I'm not taken it personal , and yes I'll keep my rodie because I can't afford another
bike. But it not that something went wrong , it's how it's handled after the fact .
Don't bullshit me with it's not a KNOW ISSUE , If Yamaha issued a notice to change the washer ,
I wouldn't be looking at $500 in parts.
And I don't think you would feel this way if it was your ride!!!
OK I'm DONE..... literally

Here is an example of another similar issue but on a truck. 2004 ford f150 5.4L engine. They recommend the plugs be changed at 100K. Discovered a known issue before I started the work myself that the plugs quite often break off during removal. Had a thought, called ford dealer and was quoted an extremely high price to change the plugs. Asked them if they knew about these plugs being famous for breaking off in the heads. Answer was yes. Next I asked, ok if that happens, you guys take care of the fix? Answer: sure but we are going charge you. So I asked, what price am I looking at if by a long shot all 8 plugs break off, whats the bill. Answer: Over $800. Sure made me want to buy another ford....Not!

Why the heck would the plugs break off, for crying out loud? They're only screwed into the head. Even if the heads an alloy, and the plugs are steel... don't they put an anti-seize compound on the threads???

What is with that nonsense?!?!?!

Because they used a very stupid spark plug design. Here is a TSB on it http://www.phila.gov/fleet/Warranty%20Recalls/tsb08-07-06%20FORD.pdf

Similar event as what started this thread that in my opinion should not be costing the consumer anything. I definately see why Fishhead would be upset at their lack of caring.
