I've been thinking about doing something similar, since the glare from direct sunlight also takes away a lot visibility even if I can manage to glance down at the tank.

Thanks, it was one of those jobs that you ask yourself, half way through it, "what in the hell did I do?" but when all finished I liked the way it turned out.
I t shure makes it easier to see the warning lights and gove a nice place to put the switches for the passing lights, 4 way flashers and cig lighter/aux power outlet.
