Battery suggestions? 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago
It's time for me to quit ignoring the fact that I need a new battery. Any suggestions/warnings?

Just got one today at Fleet Farm (regional store) for $78.70. 310 CCA. Old one had a dead cell and I pushed it as long as I could. Starting was getting to be accompanied with a short prayer (please let it start).

===================================

For the $$$$ and quality you can't beat this HIGH PERF 310CCA DEKA AGM MAINT FREE battery for $77.95 in S&H .

(Stock battery is weaker @ 270cca)

(SEE LINK PASTED BELOW FOR DETAILS)

Fellow RSC members that bought this battery say it's shipped fast showing up on thier thier doorstep in 1-2 days on avg when bought eaqrly in wk,add a day if bought on a Friday heading into wk end . I read that actual shipping time avg on website rvu's for this battery from people that bought it.

Locally at auto stores same type battery for $99 or so is actually $110-120 range (inc tax & disposal-core fee)and at dealer is $130-140 range when the Deka i suggest is &77.95 everything included.

If you can wait 2-3 days or so its a great buy!

I don't know just how long Deka has been in buisness but i remember as a kid in the late 50's-early 60's seeing Deka car batteries so they have been arround quite a while & know what they are doing ,thats for sure.

I have had this battery in my 06 R* for going on 3yrs with no issues thus far.

Just a suggestion,anytime you buy a factory activated battery if you have a small maint charger for bikes i'd put it on the new factory activated battery to ensure it's fulley charged prior to install.

Some people get their undewear in a twist saying dont buy factory activated bike battery because it may have been sitting for a while vs a batt you need to add acid & charge.

Well thats generally not an issue esp with that new AGM technology the deka battery has which stays charged longer & is much more reistant to sulfation when stting with no activity too .

Think about this,car/truck batteries have been factory activated & sold that way since the mid 70's with no problems at all.

Heres the info on the deka bike battery and link to buy it pasted below that.

==================

Was this an AGM maint free battery ?

Did you have to add acid & charge it prior to use?

Did the $78.70 include tax & recycle-disposal fee's?

If it was a maint free factory activated hi perf 310cca AGM ready to go battery for $78.70 inc tax & disposal-recycle fee it was a great deal for getting locally.

I cant touch that price locally in my area for a maint free factory activated hi perf 310cca AGM battery thats ready to go when ya get it.

I went with a lithium battery this time from Ballistic. Here is my write up.

I have HC pistons that really slam batteries on start up. So far the Ballistic stands up very well to cold starting and accessories. Mine is a 99 with the 05 stator and rectifier.

========

GP,thanks for the info,now we have another great price for a hi perf AGM 310cca battery and link to it too.

BTW,Checked it out on that website and found the mfg pt# for that battery is EXT20L which is the pt# specific to deka bike batterys only so its the same battery battery i suggested marketed/sold under a diff name.

I just got one from Batteries Plus AGM 2yr warranty 310. What I don't care for in mail order, if it goes bad, then you have to ship, wait for one to come back. Down how many days? Battery plus, a drive to the store, drive to the bike, and your done. I guess in Fl, a true all yr ride state, I don't care to be down for that length of time. BTW, battery was 104.00 I'm satisfied.
