No apology necessary wildrat. And yes I was sort of expressing a group apology for not being able to help snacky so far. I'm sure we all want our fellow star riders to be out there in the wind with a big smile on their faces rather than cussing away in the garage. This site has been helpful to me and I'll do my part to help others that come here also. Ride safe everyone, even if it's in your dreams as the snow starts to fly.

DocShadow and GRAM, you both got it right but don't worry, I didn't take offense. Wildrat was just speaking out of frustration I'm sure. Damn shame that his dealer is not making greater efforts to help him. By the way Doc and Gram, those are two of the most bitchin bikes ever.

TMK, I ride with a windshield like you. Not only do those bugs hurt but SOME of them taste bad.

Update to my solved vibration problem.

Many of you know that Barney's Yamaha of Tampa Bay screwed me. Myself and my wife bought two identical 2005 Black Cherry Road Star's from them with cash. They were decent people while buying. We brought our bikes in had them serviced and all that stuff. They got paid for their supposed work. My bike had a vibration. They looked at it, tried to charge me for doing nothing to the bike. The bike was under warranty, less than a year old. I build engines, I also was an aircraft electrician so my mechanical and electrical background covers a lot of areas. They tried feeding me Bull Shit trying to excuse the vibration. I finally said screw this and fixed the problem. I also found out that they did not service the bike because it only had a cup of shipping oil in the transfer case. Barney's of Tampa Bay stole my money that I paid them for servicing. Anyway the bike has been running good after I repaired the cut o-ring on the intake and other little problems. Dealing with Barney's of Tampa Bay has caused me a lot of stress, and my confidence in the so called indestructible Road Star. After 3750 miles my wife and I traded both our bikes in for two identical 2006 Cobalt Blue Harley Davidson Street Glides. Yes they cost more. Yes they are made in America for Americans. Yes they have mostly SAE bolts and nuts, and yes I will get good service from Gulf Coast Harley. So anyway it has been nice coming here, thanks for the help forum members. I will say two more things,

1. Do yourself a favor and buy American ! and

2. Barney's Yamaha of Tampa Bay and most of it's employee's are a bunch of lying, stealing, cheating yellow belly sap suckers. You can figure out for yourselfs what I mean by a yellow belly sap sucker.

Post edited by: wildrat, at: 2006/01/29 16:35

Re:Vibration @ 2200 RPM 2 Years, 3 Months ago
I have an 03 rodie with 16,000 miles. Just noticed an excessive vibration. No new modifications or anything different added in the past 2 years. The vibration occurs at 4th gear right at the 50 mph range and when shifted into 5th at 55-60 it is worse. Not sure if it is better at higher speeds or just the vibration is faster and not as noticable. I changed the plugs and gapped according to the specs and this did help the performace but the vibration still exist. Any suggestions on what to look for? thanks

Could be a loose motor mounting bolt. I had a vibration that was healed by retorquing the engine mounting bolts.
