Riding a back road one morning at daybreak a bird flew across and went right through the spokes. When I looked in the mirrors my buddy who was behind me was covered in a cloud of feathers! Almost took out a turkey buzzard that was feasting on road kill.

that happened to a mate i was following down the motorway back in `82.

he was riding a GT750 suzuki water buffalo that had 3 spoke dymag wheels. a group of herring gulls (i lived on the coast and those big buggers were plentiful) flew in front of us, but the last one tried to fly through his wheel. instant blender effect.
there was an explosion of blood, guts, and feathers, and he was plastered with the lot as well as the engine and radiator. even 5 yards back, the smell was repugnant (herring gulls eat nasty crap - literally) as it all cooked on the bike.

when we got to london we had to hose the bike off, and then i had to hose him off, but still not many people got too close to him that night.

moose in Wyoming..walked away with a sore wrist, dead moose and a new street glide..
If you had an empty deep freeze it could have been win/win except for the damage to the bike. Free meat for several months anyway.

actually in Wyoming that's illegal - cause the guy who helped me was a hunter and i asked him if he wanted the meat, he said nope - a soup kitchen i guess picks it up.

Lotsa close calls with deer, elk and big horns. Hit a rabbit in TN on I-24 just outside of Monteagle, bad news for the rabbit and almost bad news for me!. About had my head taken off by a big ass owl. Thing had a 6ft wing span EZ! Had a beetle (i think) hit me in the lip so hard that its ended up almost all the way thru my lip. Took a few days but we finally dug it all out LOL.

My son totaled a Road Glide when he hit a coyote. Did not help the animate objects either.

Re:Anyone ever hit an animal? 7 Months, 1 Week ago
Around this time last year I had my son on the back, my wife and daughter were on my wife's bike. It was nightime and we were on a 50 mph 2 lane road. A fairly large oppossum ran out in front of me. I didnt have enough time to do anything but brace my hands and feet a little. Well, we ran right over him, my son got thrown up a little, but not bad, since he didn't see it coming it startled him. My wife saw it and said we bounced pretty high. Luckily she was back enough to avoid any impact herself. She said I did kill it.

Oh, and nearly missed a dead dog a few years ago, he was laying on a bend in the road, luckily was a sharp enough bend to have to get pretty slow, so I avoided him. He was a big enough dog, that one would have hurt a little.
Be careful out there all!! Have fun!!

Hit, or should I say I was hit, by a dove in the helmet. Glanced off the left side of the helmet and I didn't know what the hell it was until I looked in the mirror and saw the feathers behind me. When I stopped and looked at the helmet I could see the fine details of the feathers in the dusty left overs from the thing.
