gel seat pad 7 Months, 1 Week ago
So I was in Wal Mart today and saw the gel seat cushions in the automotive section. $20. Bought one and went for about 50 mile ride. Stopped after about 25 miles and readjusted it as I couldn't tell a bit of difference between it and stock seat. Rode the rest of the way home and brought it and told the wife to get my $20 back next time she was there. Maybe I got the wrong type? Don't know but my first experience with gel pads was not impressive. I actually think my seat is more comfortable.

Suggestions? Anyone else had this experience?

I have a mustang seat and hate the seat so the pad helped me a lot. My mustang seat is like sitting on a brick. worst $600 i've ever spent on my bike...

I bought a Saddleman gel seat for my wife's HD. Terrible seat. Glad I did not spend much. I plan on hacking the seat up and recovering it. Could not tell it was a gel seat at all.

Now my Ultimate seat... AHHHHHHH! Wonderful to ride all day long! Very comfortable... to bad they dont make one for her scoot.

Hmmm, I've had the saddlemen seat for yrs (5yrs), and love it! I didn't like it at first tho. Had it on for 2 or 3 days and hated it, took it off. After a few months of not using it, decided to try it again, but with the commitment to leave it on for a full month, took about 3 weeks to break in, maybe it took me so long to break it in because I'm a lightweight, all of 156lbs. Last yr noticed the pan was cracked, called Saddlemen, they said it was a lifetime warranty and to send it in, got it back and they even replaced the one stud that ripped off.

I did a fair amount of research and was convinced gel would have made a difference in comfort. Not to be for her. Maybe I was a little to harsh using TERRIBLE. The seat was comfortable but hard and that was about it, unlike my Ultimate, sweet. I could not discern the gel aspect of the solo rider. Its for the HD so I wont be riding it that often so it will still be going under the knife to trim down the sides and maybe I will be able to salvage it for an occasional install on her ride.

I like my Mustang seat! The other day I was about 100 miles into a ride and it dawned on me that I hadn't thought about my seat one time. To me that is a pretty good indication that my ass is happy.

I actually don't have any complaints about my seat but had been reading here about how much better the gel was so decided to try it. Maybe it would have been noticeable if I had a comfort problem to begin with.

I have the same exact pad on my bike.Check my sigpic. Makes a huge difference to my comfort. I am tall and the pad allows more of my backside to support my weight. I also added an additional 1.5" of padding to enhance the weight distribution.
