Wow let's see the cylinders are the same size, fed by the same carb., fired by identical coils, same bore and stroke, same compression, yet the rear is normally weaker? I think dealers must think we are IDIOTS. For reference the exhaust pulse on my Road Star is the same back and front!!! I would suggest that perhaps the dealer should start other Roadies and demonstrate to you that this is normal. I think unless he has only got sick ones on the floor that this is just a lot of BS. Doc, speechless! Me bullistic!!!!

I like my metz too but make sure you brake them in wouldn't want to here bad things. A good cruise before you push them. I have seen first hand the ride it like you stole it on new tires. The rash is his tattoo! He said I wish I had listened, never said I told you so. Ride safe

Hi all I have the same prob where the rear sounds like its on holiday, and Ive been thinking it might be related to the 270 degree? firing cycle, and the short time between the two power strokes, and at idle the infernal combustion engine isnt real efficent, might be like an optical dilusion, bikes with 180 cranks always sound even when a single carb is used 2cents worth

Hi Jeff, Here's my 2 cents,... you are running longshots or something similar, one pipe is longer than the other so at idle, the longer pipe is able to absorb more of the velocity of the exhaust pulse than the shorter pipe...this creates the illusion of less pressure at the end of the tail pipe...when you turn the rpms up, you probably won't notice it..

The problem with that is it's the rear cylinder that feels weak. The shorter pipe. Unless I'm reading what you're saying wrong.

I'll go along with that, if the back cylinder, top pipe feels weak, then it's something else..

UPDATE:

I just got back from a long trip and the bike rode fine...great! Of course, I have never ridden another Road Star so I have nothing to compare it to. It always feels like it could use a little more power, though.

Anyway, you can see the Cobra full system pipes I'm running in my sig pic - they are the same length with no crossover and everything else is stock except for a Revmaster which the previous owner installed.

I checked and the rear cylinder (top pipe) is still pulsing weaker. Like I said in my last post, I'm just going to try and put it out of my mind for now. I'm sure I'll revisit this issue again in the spring with another dealer.

I have a 2007 Roadstar Silverado. I only have 2650 miles on it since I bought it. After reading your post I checked my bike. If I put my hand about 2 inches from the bottom pipe it actually pushes my hand back. The top pipe feels weak. Bike is completely factory with no pipes or mods. Straight like it was out of the crate. I havent noticed any problems with power. If anything it scares the livin hell out of me lol. I hope this sets your mind at ease. I called a friend and his bike also feels week on the top pipe. Not sure why, not exactly sure what the difference would be, but just what I flat out observed on a bike I've only had since July 3rd. Hope this helps, Nick

Thank you so much Nick. Yes, it does make me feel a little bit better - like I'm not alone...or crazy. Thanks. But, I still don't understand why our bikes are this way?

Jeff

I have a 2007 roady with 1050 mile on it. after installing Long shot HS pipes and a air box I noticed that I had 1 cyd. that seem to be firing stronger than the other. This was cured with a PMS adjustment. Yes I know that one carb does both cyd. but I think the 1 cyd was lean. by adding more fuel it picked up.

Just a thought
