Powdercoating tins 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Has anyone ever had tins powdecoated?

I think it would run 1/3-1/2 half the cost of paint.

Are you talkin' like the fenders, side covers and tank? All the powder coat that I've seen has a very slight orange peel effect to it, so I don't know if I'd want to do that.

I had a rear fender powder coated black. It came out beautiful, matched the rest of the bike and had no orange peel!

he´s talking about the fork tins that go from the top yoke (dammit - triple tree) to the sliders.

mine are being painted during the rebuild this winter. tins, sliders, yokes, risers, headlamp shell (not the rim though), all in gloss black.

angus has a paint that he uses for forks which has a deep shine like stoving, and is near as dammit as hard. dunno what it is, i´m a mechanic, not a painter.

I got my fork tins powder coated. It took them 3 tries, and they still have a heavy orange peel.

Who did yours? Everything I have ever had done or seen, for that matter, had at least some orange peel in it. Of course these clowns around here have no problem giving you something back with big drips or bumps either so maybe it is just the people around here.

My buddy just got damn near every metal part on his yamaha banshee powder coated and it looks sweet. He also talked to the owner about doing a bike(all the tins) for $350. No serious orange peel problems I think this is the route im going to go.
