Man my roadie will out perform any harley i have been up against!! I go to motorcycle ralleys and more people look at my bike over the harleys and alot of them mistake it for one ,but i am quick to tell them it is not!!!I had a harley and it sucks big time compaired to the *.Funny thing though my handle bars, throtle, rear tail light, grips ect all came from harley sites due to the fact it was cheaper than buying them from metric sites!!!I had the pleasure of working for yamaha when these bikes first came out and other than the trans /oil pump thing as long as you fix it or buy an 02 or newer, this is buy far the best bike for the buck!!!!honda kaw, suzi, have no bike that can compare!!!But like we all agree does not matter anymore what you ride ,make it you and ride!!!!!

in all fairness stock to stock I agree. but my best friend has a fatboy with a 1550 kit, and it wails on my roady.I have heard this so many times about roadys being so much faster, and the truth is HD does make a good product, just as fast with less displacement. now if they would make a bike to accomodate a 6'6" rider maybe I would look harder. not till then tho. im sure svs has nothing to do with my oppinion tho

I have a 03-1600 with a 1700 ignition module,BAK,Baron ported intake,V&H long shots no baffles and running the 33 front pulley. My riding buddy has a 07 HD with the 1558cc. We are pretty evenly matched through 1st,2nd but from middle of third on I pull him pretty good. I think the HD are catching up but for the price I think they should be way ahead. With my bike being close to 5 years old its still on par with the newest HD.

but on the other hand, take the price of a fatboy and the 1550 kit, subtract the price of a roadie, and sink that cash into go-faster goodies.

youŽd have an 11sec roadie NO problems!

as the man said `speed is a question of money - how fast do you want to go?Ž

I agree, HD's are nice bikes. HDs will rev higher than R*'s and that allows them to use more of their power band. Although I really like being in a position to not need the higher revs.

The Fat Boy is a great bike. Came close to buying one myself but ended up getting the R* instead. I sure like HD's approach to chrome (lots of it), and their chrome quality. I guess that is at least part of the reason for the higher price.

No stock R* will take on a 1200 sportster, and not sure many modded ones could. That bike screams. But then you give up comfort and style for the speed.
