Rear Shock 1 Year, 6 Months ago
Hello guys, I am new to the forums as well as new to roadstars. I picked up an 06 not to long ago and been going over it since it has some surface rust here and there but runs great. Long story short I removed the swingarm for blasting and powder coating and noticed the rear shock is pretty rusted. I don't know if I should be to worried or if I should look for another one. I was wondering what years will fit exactly also. Thanks for your time guys and ride safe.

1rst from MI as for the shock if its the spring that is rusted you can change out the spring and still use the shock. if you change out the whole thing i wouldn't buy a stock shock (unless its used but in good shape and cheap) if you go with a new shock i would look into a progressive shock..... or go with a tricky air ride

from Niagara NY. Don't worry about the rust if it's riding fine.

I have a 1999. Spring and shock are not rusted. I tightened mine when I bought it for my Wife and I to ride together. It's fine for us,but if I was to replace, I would get a Progressive Spring and Air Shock.

Chadmans06 to answer your question all years are the same. If your are worried about rust clean and paint it if it rides good. If you don't want to do that I have the stock setup off my 05 from when I put my Trickey Air Ride on.

Thank you guys for all your replys and the warm welcome to the forums. Curt, I really wish I could get the air ride for my bike, it looks sick. How much does it run any how? Also I haven't gotten to ride it much yet since I have been tearing things of for powder coating and checking it over. If I was to stick with the stock for now, how much would you want for your stock Curt? I just want to make sure its all good because I can care less if I am on it and something happens, I just don't want it to happen if the wife is on board you know.
