New Tire Cost? 1 Year, 5 Months ago
There was some talk a while back about a shimmy in the front tire. I had that and just noticed how bad the front tire is worn on the left side...can actually see some cupping. Being my first bike I was just sort of looking at the tread. Now I know what to look for.

I have a stock 2000 R* with spoked wheels so it's tubed tires. What would be considered a good price for new front and rear tires? I'm not looking for anything high performance, I ride pretty conservatively. I'm thinking of buying online and have a local bike shop install them. I'm guessing the dealer would want a million bucks! Any thoughts on where to buy online? I'll also search the older posts. Thanks.

you might want to price new tires with whoever you expect to mount them..around here they get an attitude and jack up the mounting/balancing price if you did not buy the tires from them..so in the long run you save nothing.. but this is Connecticut so anything goes.. just my 2C.. btw,i got mine from jake wilson..great price..

Try DENNIS KIRK, INC. in Minnesota. Bought tires, METZLERS, last spring and got a good price on them with free shipping.

When I bought mine Metz 880's last year, Motorcycle Superstore was the best price. Free shipping, and they will ship to the shop you want to have install them.

Just picked up my Metzler ME 880's today. Front, $114 and rear, $217. Typical for what I've paid in the past.

I picked up a big slice of metal in my rear tire, took it to the dealership and they installed a Metzler. It was $165 w/mounting and balancing. I am beginning to have more confidence in this dealership here. One of the salesman here promised me the first oil change free and it wasn't the store policy, so they didn't want to honor it.

When I went in to get the break-in oil changed they had fired the salesman. I argued with them and they cut the price some.
Ever since them I've been soured on them.

They do have a gift card program though and that adds up fast.

Anytime any dealership makes me a promise to give me something for free, I ALWAYS make them put it in writing. That way, they can't 'crab' on me later. Had it happen before..... and they'll try it again.

Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, shame on me!!!
