Your not going to get the full benefit from a 310/325 battery unless you change the wires, relay and starter.

I've had the same problem....40 F and lower and the starter is really slow...and it's on a tender 24/7...I moved it to and insulated and semi heated shop this winter and while it it still slow...it does start after 40 seconds or so ..
I have also read on net that larger wires, and a starter out of the warrior would give more umph when starting...I was thinking on going that route myself

I took that Battery with me to batterys Plus and the battery is perfect.
Another thing, a 325 cc amp won't fit in the box, so what do you guys do to make it fit?

I was thinking on the way back that maybe one of the injectors is leaking and flooding the darn thing.

There is no reason why the bike shouldn't start. Going to try the bike as soon as I can feel my fingers and see what happens.

These bikes have an anemic starting system to start with and when you throw in cold temps and thick oil, it becomes a problem. That's the main reason many of us have swapped starter, relay, and wires......so much juice is trying to get to the starter motor, that there is not enough left to spark the plugs.....

What I ended up doing is taking the bike to the dealership and had them change the oil to a thinner oil, I believe they said 10-40 Yamulube.

Going to see if there is change in the morning.

I'll bet you see a change. Heck, the Yamalube 10W40 is also good for temps up to 100 degrees or so. You've still got a quart of 20W50 in the engine though so that may effect things just a tad.

I ran 15-40 Rotella oil in the winter and noticed a difference. I don't ride much in the winter anymore so a just leave the 20-50 in year around.

I have strapped an engine block warmer to the bottom for a while to warm the oil before trying to start it in the cold temps. That help a lot. Just a suggestion if you have one available.

It has occured to me River that if your bike is fuel injected then it should pop right off. I mean mine's a '99 and it started right up the other day at 26 degrees.

You stated at the beginning that the bike sat on the showroom for about 2 years right? It could be that the injectors are clogged to the point they can't provide the extra rich mixture necessary to start the bike when cold. Just a thought. While there might not be a code indicated with the engine light if I'm not mistaken the dealer can access the computer memory to see if anything's out of order. Just a thought.

I did that the other day on a Vstar 1300 per factory request to see if it had ever been idled for longer than 20 minutes, it hadn't but found that the lean angle sensor had been activated. And sure enough there was a mark on the left saddlebag and the front fender where it had fallen on the left side.

Well, after changing the oil to 10-40 Yamalube the bike started this morning effortlessly.

Apparently that is what the problem was.

Is there a port that the computer can be accessed through? Or do they have to break into a wiring terminal somewhere?
