K&N Air Filter Install ? 4 Years, 7 Months ago
I'm still new to my R* and on my last two bikes I used K&N air filters with no adjustments to the carbs. If I install one on my 2006 R* will I need to ajust anything? The bike is 100% stock. Or is it a even swap out? I feel dumb asking this question..........Thank for the help. By the way what K&N filter do I need?

You won't have to change anything. Just swap em out.

K&N

Don't feel dumb asking any question. That's what the Clinic is for.

definately don't feel dumb asking any sort of question. I, among most of these guys on this forum should have named ourselves "dumbass" due to our lack of knowledge of our bikes. But you will learn alot like I did, especially hanging out on these forums. Now, after 5 yrs of owning my roadstar, I literally know my bike inside out. Take care and good luck

Welcome aboard mongoose84. If you don't already have it the K&N
filter for the stock box is YA-1704. As Musky said you won't have to change anything else. You'll notice a difference.

That's the wonderful thing about it being a clinic, we're all here to help each other. No dumb questions. Lots of repeats, but, I for one know for a fact my first question ever to this forum was about jetting, think that hadn't been covered 5000 times before I asked it. Everyone here pitches in, and all benefit. If the prevailing attitudes like those of other forums ever takes over here (I know it won't guys) , something special will be lost. We gotta good thing! The K&N air filter is great.. Really check the directions K&N sends with the filter. The do NOT mention the fact you have to dis-connect the old filter from the carborator. I was yanking on the damn thing for ten minutes before I realized the dis-connect problem. NOT mentioned at all in the directions... Take your time its easy.

There are no dumb questions, just someone's perception of another's knowledge . At least here it's all straight shooters. Lotsa helpful information from experienced and proud R* owners (and some BS for added flavor) .

Wow, this is a great site. I've picked up some good tips already. I'm new to this site and have had my Roadstar for only a couple of months so I have alot to learn about the big bore twins. I've always had crotch rockets but now I just want to cruise. I love my Roadstar, I'm having a ball.
