Well I finally got up the nerve to attempt stage 1. Its pretty straight forward but I found it extremely rough to get the cone out of the end of the pipes. The second one I did came a little smoother after I got it downpat and saw what it was doing. I think it turned out well minus some jagged edges on the inner pipe I plan to clean up with a polisher. I can tell you a few things I know for sure.
1. Bike is definitely louder. Not quite as loud as I hoped but awesome compared to stock.
2. I seem to have more power(Might be from crackin it open in 2nd all day to hear it though lol)
3. It doesnt seem to have affected the running of the bike any as far as causing any problems.

Thats about it. Took me about 10 beers last night to get the nerve at 3am to wrench on the pipes and start cuttin em. At 4:30am eastern time, I woke up the entire neighborhood lol. I got some angry looks this morning. Just thought I'd share. Hopefully this pic posts. I took it today of the finished product.

If you get some flutter on decel you can reduce it by elongating some of the holes to make slots.

I'll have to remember that. Though I'd say I'll probably be doing stage 3 before long lol. Thats until I get up the dough for some Powershots. Until then this was more than worth it lol.

If you're going for a pair of after market pipes later then I'd leave them alone. This way you'll have a quieter set of pipes to go back to if you have to.

Man, at 3am I wouldn't trust myself with ANY power tool near my bike... Especially after 10 beers!

Looks like you got it right, LE. I took the other route and ordered a set of slip-ons. Looks good, LE!

Got my hands on a set of stock pipes untouched DocShadow. That way if I made a mistake I would have been covered. Also strangely I ran the bike for about 5 mins with no pipes without problems. Probably not good but I wanted to see what it sounded like with just the short pipes off the motor. LOUD lol

Hi Liquid, it looks good,job well done, if you figure out what to use to remove the inner pipe, please let me know, I want to go to stage 3 too, just not sure what to use. And if you are going to keep stage1, get the primer so the inside will not rust.

Good idea DarekC I had forgotten about that. Maybe some of that Engine Enamel or the Enamel for Brake Calipers. Some of that 1700 degree stuff that wont burn off. I think they even have it in chrome. I'll have to check into that. I'm like you though. I saw that part on stage 3 about sticking something in the pipe and twisting till the weld breaks. After how hard that weld was to even cut on stage 1 that holds the cone in I am VERY doubtful that the weld is just going to break. I could be wrong though. You'd have to have something that really got ahold of it and use a heck of alot of force. Even then I just cant see how it would break. That was some VERY hard weld. They had to use very good stuff on it. Anyways ttyl.

The first pipe I just wiggled and fought till it broke the weld loose . Takes some time but it finally came out . The second one I got creative . Keep in mind I had the garage (where I work) to do this . I tack welded a 7/8 socket to the pipe , put a 1/2" drive extention and a ratchet on it and twisted it out . The wiggling was easier because you didn't have to have a death grip on the pipe for twisting with the ratchet .

Liquid, get the BBQ paint, it will do.

Going for a 400km ride on the backroads this am to break-in the engine, will see how the stage1 sounds at travel speed, but I am possitive that I will not be happy until I get aftermarket pipes
