Oil Leak? 5 Months, 1 Week ago
I took my '09 down to the dealership and had them change the oil to thinner oil for the winter months and now the bike is leaving oil drips.

I looked under there with a flash light and couldn't see where the leak is coming from.

That is just plain aggravating. Its a tiny leak, but crap, I shouldn't have any.

Do you all think they might have over filled it? jeesh, I'm aggravated with those bone heads.

They could have spilled some and not gotten it all cleaned up or there's a plug loose. I'd sure call them and ask about it.

If it's leaving drops though you should be able to look straight up from the spot and see the next drip forming.

Go out and buy a MC jack and do the oil changes yourself. Your mental health will be improved two fold; sense of pride/accomplishment and no aggravation caused by other's incompentence! You'll save money in the long run too.

+1 on checking for loose plugs and call the shop that did the work. Let them fix their mistake.

I do my own w/o jack, and still 1 outa 4 times after I tighten everything down, I will do a short run come home and there is another 1/8 turn on the plug on the bottom, just happens sometimes,I just figure good practice step, re-tighten is better than loosening one, seems especially true with new crush washers, dont know why.

I often wondered if the oil could be changed while the bike is up on the jack. It seems that the plug by the sidestand wouldn't be accessable or maybe a real pain all the way around, and do it off the jack. There must be some that tried it.

As Scott said they may have spilled some oil and now it's dripping of the bike. If they didn't realize that only 2 qts go in then you need to start the bike before putting the last 2 qt's in, they would have overflowed the oil tank.

If it is coming from the tank vent tube then they over filled it. Ask how much they put in.

Today the temp got all the way up to 20*. I went for a short run, about 50 miles. I have 20/50 in the bike and had no problem getting the beast to wake up. In fact the top end noise tic tic tic was gone. Bike ran strong and if I didn't freezzzzzzz my balls off I'd still be riding.
