Yeh, Dec.22, and I'm finishing my Christmas shopping here on 2 wheels. I did 80 miles with all the stops I'd planned.

Wouldn't you know it... some cager pulls out, and stops, almost in front of me. I locked the rear a touch, but got out of it, and went around his nose, without making any contact.

I was thanking the Lord like Tim Tebow!

Glad you recovered it well... hope the shoulder was just a little "stressed". Merry Christmas!

WOW!!!,PHEWWW!!!,That was close one!!!!

Great job on getting it under control and am very glad to see you & the bike came out relatively ok considering if you had actually gone down what could have happened to you & the bike which would have been worse.

Have a great Chistmas & Happy New Year!

WOW! Lets hope you don't ever have to do that again. Great job at keeping her up and rolling on two wheels.

Glad your OK, bike parts can be replaced easily unlike broken human body parts. It only takes a second of inattention to get yourself into a dangerous situation that can really turn ugly FAST.

I still have some close to 40 yr old scars from my "invincible" youth days

As a member of the gone-down-club welcome. It usually hurts and more often than not costs $$. Glad you're OK.

There are only two types of motorcycle riders. Those that have crashed, and those that are going to crash. I thought I was blessed and had ridden over 20 years with out crashing. Then I made up for 20 years of blissful dent and scratch free riding in one fell swoop. A dog or coyote runs in front of my bike gets hit by the front wheel and then the engine. The front end washes out and then the road rash grind that made up for all of lucky years began. Seemed like it took for ever for the bike to quit sliding. Enough hide left on the road to make several wallets.

Good save, kryinggame! I joined the club many, many years ago and have been very lucky since then. Both of mine did quite a bit more damage than yours, though. Probably an experience thing.

Enjoy the Jack & those ribs!

Guys, thanks for all of the words of comfort. I'm not really sore today (thank god).

I'll tell you this, I've changed my views of wearing a helmet. Had I actually went down, I'm sure my old nogin would be injured.

Safety first!

You got AMAZINGLY lucky...very glad you weren't hurt worse.

Ive been riding for 7 years accident free but tonight, I finally joined the accident club.

I was out riding tonight and made a huge left turn. There was some debree that hit my license plate holder (I have one of those license plate holders that hangs off on the left rear side of the bike). I really don't know what it was because it happened so fast. I took my eyes off of the road and kept looking back to see what happened to my license plate holder and within seconds, I started swerving and hit the curb--hard. At that point, my bike felt as if it was going down. I literally yelled out, "HELL NO" and with all of my strength, I pulled the bike up, while dragging my feet to regain control. After what felt like a a minute or two, I had control and was able to pull over.

I didn't go down and the bike isn't damaged but my license plate holder was dangling loose. Then I saw that the floor board extension for my Lindby, Linbar Highway bar was cracked. And, the tubing for my rear break (located under the bike) split and is leaking fluid. Oh, also the soles on my Converse sneakers are ripped up. Finally, I think due to the adrenaline rush, I was able to hold the bike up but now my left shoulder is really hurting. Funny, I just had the Kuryakyn sportech fairing installed and there was no way in heck that I was going to smash it up. I cant believe, while driving 40 MPH or so, I was able to regain control of the bike.

Anyway, I was able to repair the license plate holder, there was a loose bolt. I called Lindby and they're sending me a new floorboard extension--free of charge. I'm going to take the bike to a repair shop to repair the rear break tubing and to ensure that there's no additional damage.

The lesson learned is, don't forget the basic rule of riding. At all times, keep your eyes on the road. I got off lucky!

Glad you're OK man. Last week I had a close call. I keep my phone in the chest pocket of my pendleton and last week while on the freeway I hit a gust of wind which sent my phone up in the air. After smacking it twice in mid air I was able to get it in my lap. When all was said and done I thought to myself should have let the phone go instead of diverting all of my attention off of the road. Someone was on my side... I was doing 80mph!
