Buying on Ebay and having a bike shipped. 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Well fellow Starinians, I went and bought myself a new motorcycle on ebay. Never done this before.

It is not a RS, I'm sorry to say. Not sure what I'll end up doing with my star. Be nice to have them both. I bought a BMW sport touring bike. The R1150RT, 04 model.

Any input on best way to handle transaction so no one gets took. Mainly me. The seller is willing to help with the shipping. Any recommendations on shipping companies to use or not use would be most appreciated.

I'm open to read any additional commentary on the BMW. Good, bad or entertaining. Thanks for the input.

I would check and see if there is a MC dealer (pref. BMW) in the sellers area that would handle the transaction and shipping. There would be some kind of fee involved but they could handle the title work and probably know of a reliable shipper

Personally, if it's too far to pick up in person, I ain't buying it. I wont buy anything like that sight unseen. But that's me.

Check out www.keyboardmotorcycleshipping.com
That's who we now use at work (dealership) after using everyone else w/ mixed results.
Never any damage, special cradles for the bikes, climate-controlled trailers, $20k insurance included & a good price.
$575 between any 2 points in the Eastern & Central US time zones and $675 outside those zones.

I thought I was schizophrenic, but we doubt it.

I 've bought a bunch of vehicles on E-bay and so far been lucky. In fact I bought the 2005 Road Star Midnight Star on e-bay that I'm fixing to sell.I've put 20 miles on it since June.So I don't think I need it?
With that all said I've always shipped using www.uship.com and have never had a bad experience. You post your haul and shippers bid on your move. They all have feedback for you to check on.Just be sure you gey a copy of their proof of insurance.
Hope this helps,
Tony

If it gets to be big of a maintenance bill, I'll sell it to some other idiot. I'm living, riding proof, they're a dime a dozen Thanks for the info on shippers. I found one (ID Transports) Looks promising. Anybody ever used them. $575 to my door in mid-mo from Southeast FL. Only ship motorcycles.

Never used any motorcycle shipper. Flew out to Osseo,MN from Ohio and rode the Roadstar home. Not the best time of the year for ya to do that, huh.

What a great bike, I'd love to have an RT. Easy engine for self maintenance.

Here is another vote for Keyboard motorcycle shipping. I used them to get the one in my sigpic from Washington state to Kentucky. They were the most expensive, but the had the best insurance and I never found one compaint on them. All the others, I found complaints on.
