Bar law in Texas. 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I am thinking about making a ride to Austin this year to visit family. In Nevada and AZ handle bar height are shoulder height, I am good. In NM there is no restrictions. In Texas the law is 15-17" above the seat. My bars are 20" hangers, so I am like 30" above the seat. Am I going to get screwed with by DPS or do they leave out of state bikes alone provided they met their local laws?

I have yet to see a bike pulled over around the Dallas area. I got pulled over twice for speeding and they just said slow it down and sent me on my way. Yes one was a motor cop.

Here in Arizona depending on what area your going to, they probably won't bother you. The law reads shoulder height. In the larger city areas the cops have better things to do with their time, but some of your rural areas have newbie cops trying to make a name for themselves. I wouldn't worry about truthfully. If your really concerned do like I have done in the past and leave the bars at the riser slightly loose, just loose enough with some good pressure you can roll them back towards you to make them appear lower. Once the cop is gone you push them back to normal riding position.

Here in the El Paso area there's too many riders that have apes that resemble them hanging from trees by their finger tips Don't think you'll get messed with.

Thanks Guys. If I actually get to make this trip, I am going to be sure I get up to that area just to say hello.
