Have you thought about the Royal Star Venture bags? They can be found in good shape from trike conversions. The mounting system is the best and can literaly pull a trailer. 9.3 gallons per bag which equals 35.2 liters.

On the phone right now so I can't direct you to better info but they adapt well to the Roadstar.

Well, I purchased a Cavalry batwing outer fairing from a company on Ebay with the same name in Califorinia. It was advertised as a fitment for the HD inner. When I got it, it was 2-4" too narrow and there were no way to connect a bracket to it save 2 screw connections that were not in the bracket area. Just sayin...my experience with this particular company in they are selling knockoffs and be sure to check their measurements.

Hey gents, this is a continuation from my previous thread. I'm trying to decide on a set of hardbags.

Yesterday, I posted questions about the Matazu HL hardbags. To be honest, I'm not comfortable with the feedback that I've gotten about them. And, I'm shocked that the price is so low ($235). I'm wondering if it's a simple, cheap set of hardbags thrown together. I'm even more concerned about the mounting system.

As an alternative, I also looking at the Cavalry saddlebag ($775). These bags comes with a solid looking mounting system. Some of the key points that I noticed about these bags are:

1 - Made of fiberglass and strong;
2 - the interior is made of a velvet cloth (Peach/Light Brown color);
3 - The Storage Capacity (measured using water): - 23.2 Liters;
4 - The lock assembly is made of heavy duty stainless steel. The lock is made of brass and has a chromed finish. The lid opens away from the bike and has a nylon support strip to
prevent the lid from over extending.

Here is a link to the Cavalry website http://www.cavalryfiberglass.com/store/

My gut is telling me to spend the extra cash and choose this product.

Does anyone own or have experience with the cavalary saddlebag?

Thank you!

I have the cavalry bags and I love them. Their bracket system I didn't love so much. Their brackets wouldn't allow the bags to go high enough over the stock pipes and the other side the bolts hit the belt guard. Make sure you check out the brackets that Major used, I am going to check them out also.
Good Luck.
Marc

Came across this post from the Road Star Riders forum listing a set of Venture bags for sale. You would have to paint to match your bike but if it includes the mounting brackets its a very good price. You would also have to mod the brackets to fit the Road Star but others have done it, its not too difficult from what I understand. Good luck in your quest, cheers...

rphazen,
you just answered a question I had. I was initially drawn to the cavalry bags (smooth faced) because I thought they looked very similar to a RSTD/Venture bags. I have always loved the look of the RSTD/Venture bags on the road*. The more I looked at the cavalry bags, the more i thought they looked smaller and didnt fill out the side of the bike as much as the RSTD bags. The number of 35 vs. 23 gives evidence of this. You say they can be found in good shapefrom trike conversions....let me know where, as I have been looking to buy.

Anyone have some good comparison pics from research of RSTD vs. cavalry?

Thanks
Aaron

Hi Aaron...I have the Harley Touring Bags made by Cavalry on my bike and they hold 30L. I think they fit pretty good and fill up the fender but thats just my opinion. I know several of the guys on the Road Star Riders forum are using the RSTD/Venture bags and they do look very nice, cheers...Major
