Reckless fairing?? 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I’m thinking about replacing my Silverado windshield with a reckless fairing to put on my 07 R*.
Some questions I have

1) How does the bike handle compared to a windshield, same or better?
2) I have lowers on my now, would I need some sort of lowers with the Reckless
3) Would I need to put heavier springs in the forks, factory now?
4) I realize the view is jeopardized a little, directly lower front. Does it make a big difference?
5) I've found one on e-bay for $350.00 + 50.00 shipping, with option to make offer, what’s a good price to offer, what has everyone else paid?

Thanks for all your input, I know these questions seem dumb, but this a big investment, I want to make sure it’s worth it. I really like the looks of the reckless fairing.

1. Mine handles a little better than with the stock windshield
2. Keep your lowers if you like
3. No to the springs, the fairing ain't heavy
4. No with a shorty windshield, yes a little with my 10" Long Rider smoked shield
5. I would offer $300, and I bet money they accept. Got mine for $300 two years ago. The shipping will still be $50. To get the fairing to sit correctly I had to install some pull back risers like these.

sctnmart, I have the reckless fairing and i love it. I installed my own stereo and speakers but be warned, if you use a stereo with a detactable face front you will have issues. Make sure its a solid unit.
With regard to handling, i have heard some say there was no effect and some sais otherwise. My personal experience is it did effect it at speeds over 80 MPH. Wind buffeting was my issue however when i installed Lowers from Curt, it solved my problems.

As far as the windscreen goes, i got the small one and i like that as well, i keep my visbility and the air travels nicely over my head, but thats just personal preference.

Good Luck,

What issues do you have? I don't have any with my Kenwood and it's a detachable face.

I just returned a Kenwood with a removable faceplate that I ran all season. Toward the end of the season it started cutting out. The display would go out and sometimes the whole radio would shut off. I just replaced it with a pioneer. Seems like a more solid unit but I haven't been riding with it yet. Thats my .02. By the way I also have the reckless and love it. No handling problems and lowers stopped a lot of the wind to the head.

I have a Sony marine w/ detachable face, And it cuts out quite a bit now. I think I'm going to super glue the face on. I won't be able to use CDs, but,I don't now, so no loss the way I see it.

I've got the Reckess installed on mine too and love it. I have a pair of Harley lowers installed in it and the buffet is pretty much gone. I offered $300.00 and they took the offer, so totals was $350.00 shipped to my door. One thing I really like about was that you can get it in gelcoat black and save me money on painting it because my bike was black. I'm sure you will love it as much as I do.

The seller on ebay and recklessmotorcycles.com are the same vendor. When I purchased the one on ebay I emailed them to make sure it came in gelcoat black and not primered grey because that was what was stated on the auction that it was primered grey and got a reply that they all come in gelcoat black now, but make sure you email them first before buying it.
