You say they can be found in good shapefrom trike conversions....let me know where, as I have been looking to buy.
Thanks

I live fairly close to Pinwall Cycle which sells lots of them on ebay. Their parts are usually scratched or scraped up some as they part out wrecked bikes. But they do have some decent parts sometimes. Thinking that I'd save shipping I would look for a good set from them.

These bags popped up as a "buy it now" for $500 plus $100 shipping. They came from an 08 in very good condition with a rear fender, taillight, turns, saddlebags, mounts complete with rubber spacers and bolts, locks, keys and the chrome guards. If the bags were the right color I wouldn't even have to paint them. All the parts were so good you could bolt them right on to a Venture, wax and go. I'm not normally patient but it paid off this time. I kept a watch for some bags all last winter and bought these in May when it was well past winter mod season.

The Venture mounts are much more substantial than any other mount that I have seen on a Roadstar. The Venture mounts will work on the Roadstar with very little modification. Here's a pretty good read on the subject.

I'll be using the Venture lower brackets and my own upper brackets to work with the Yamaha quick release side arm I have setup for my trunk.

Hope that helps a little,
Rod

Hi Aaron...I have the Harley Touring Bags made by Cavalry on my bike and they hold 30L. I think they fit pretty good and fill up the fender but thats just my opinion. I know several of the guys on the Road Star Riders forum are using the RSTD/Venture bags and they do look very nice, cheers...Major

Major...I assume you have the Model: HD-SBT1-R-B bags. Can you provide a straight on side photo of the bike? Would like to look at the shape of the bags versus the fender profile. Do those bags come in a smooth face profile as well?

Rod..Thanks. Am aware of Pinwall, and have been trying to be patient as you did. Haven't seen anything that I felt was priced right yet. Any other sellers besides the Delphi forums that you are aware of? I assume 500 with brackets was the lowest price you saw in your search? I really like the looks of these bags with the road*. I like many of the bikes I see over on the ultraStar forum that have made this conversion. I like the Harley bags, but feel the sharper edges on the bags dont flow with the roadstar as well.

Hey Aaron...here's a side shot of the bike, I can email you a larger image if you like. Im not sure of the part# from Cavalry, dont have time to look it up at the moment but its under the Harley section for the touring bags and I do believe they're offered in smooth. I'm using the brackets from BadDad made for the bags, they have the channel that runs the length of the bottom of the bag, they rest on the lower part of the bracket, cheers....Major

I feel the same way. That was the best price I found so I jumped on them forget the sellers name but they where a bike shop, and yeah Ultra Star and the RSR Delphi forums as well as ebay is where I was looking. Don't think I found too much on the Royal Star Venture forums, but could try there also.

Pinwall likes to part things up quite a bit, though they have had some fairly complete bag and mount sets occasionaly.

These bags I bought had the tool kit stil in it. It stays under the mat that is in the bottom of the bag. Surprised me!

Good Luck in your search,
Rod

You don"t need the venture mounting brackets. It's fairly easy to convert the roadstar brackets for the venture bags. I will post some pics when I get mine done so you can see what I mean

Major, I don't understand. Please explain to us, why you're using Harley bags on your Roadstar. Why didn't you purchase Cavalry, Roadstar hardbags?

Thanks!
