Seafoam in the gas then run the engine without the air cleaner and rev the engine a little while spraying the Deep Creep into the carb until the engine almost dies. Do this about 5 times and the last time spray it until the engine dies. After the engine cools remove the exhaust pipes ans spray inside the exhaust ports real good coating all the exhaust valves with the Deep Creep. Make sure to hold rags under the ports to catch the Deep Creep that runs out. Stuff the rags in the ports and let the bike sit for 24 hours or longer then put the pipes back on and crank it up. It will run like crap for a while and smoke like crazy but finally start running better. When it does take it out and run it like you stole it, hit the limiter off and on while your riding it. Run the tank out with the SeaFoam in it fill with fresh gas and change the oil and filter. Now is the time to properly jet the carb. BTW you can use the Yamaha Ring Free in place of the SeaFoam it seems to work a little better.

Do a compression test.

Your now the second guy worried he has leaky valves because of a Leak Down Test and the list will continue to grow as more folks decide to try a leak down test rather than a compression test.

The gaskets often are reusable if you take care during removal, at least mine were.

The second I go to turn it over

Yes you can reuse them of you are careful and don't scratch them or bend them and keep the same one on the same head and the same side up.

I'm wondering if the engine was on TDC compression.

Thanks for answering. I asked only because I've seen it happen before. Hope you get it fixed okay.

You do understand that your bike will never run like a sport bike or even some of the other big cruisers. At 20,000 mi it's hard for me to think that much of anything could be wrong with your bike that is not due to improper mods. The last time that you posted your jetting with a 150 something main jet in it, it shocked me because that is so far off your lucky the thing even run.
