A cry in the distance... 1 Year, 3 Months ago
I find I'm *always* noticing the sound of other big twins. I hear them all hours of the day, but especially at night. Sometimes I lie in bed and hear their sound *miles* away as it carries on the cool air. Like the howl of the wolf pack, deep in the night, and I wonder, "just what the hell are they doing out at this hour?" Then I think to myself, maybe *I* should be out there. But it's still comforting to hear.

It even happens when you're with someone else, you notice the sound, but others are oblivious to the call.

And it's worse when you can't ride; it becomes a taunt. Sadly, my bike has been down for a couple weeks now, and all I can hear are the beckoning calls of other riders enjoying themselves.

...Yes, my pipes are loud. I've been told they're unbearably loud, but at least I know when I "jump on it" and send out my "siren song", somewhere far off is a fellow big twin owner pining for the ride. Like a lone wolf pricking his ears up to the call of the pack.

I know it can't be just me. Who else out there finds themselves tuned in to the "cries in the distance"?

Yes it will cause the hairs to stand up on the back of my neck and the wife hears the howls as well. I have almost taught myself to define the very species that is making the call.

Oh, yeah... I'll be sitting in church, and I'll hear 'em go by on a Sunday morning.

Forgive me, Lord... I do love You, but sometimes I find it hard to concentrate!
