2008 Roadstar - Hypercharger or Baron Big Air Kit? 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
|
|
|
Hello ALL,
I have an 08 Roadstar and am wondering if anyone has a Kuryakyn hypercharger, or a Baron Big Air, or something similar as far as air intake mods go...
Looking for some reviews on how the fit is, does it get in the way of your knee while riding?? How much further does it stick out than the stock air box????
Also, what kind of noticeable difference in performance/mileage are you getting??
ANYTHING helps.. THANKS!!!!!!!!

I have the BAK. It is thinner than stock and my leg (knee) does not hit it like it did hte stock air breather. The BAK is tucked under the gas tank

did you look at the hypercharger? I think i'd be happy with either..
I like to vacuum flaps on the Hyper, I like the looks of the scribing on a BAK I saw...

HC is more looks than anything I have had both and got rid of the HC first then got the BAK. The BAK has more surface area so it get more air. Got tired of the chrome getting scratched on a high dollar air cleaner so I went with much cheaper ($40) K&N that performs just as good or better.

Like the looks of the hypercharger but seen too many here taken off cause they get in the way. So I say no to the hypercharger cause it gets in the way and the BAK is just that TOO big and takes away from the looks of the motor. Some here like the maxair other like just a K&N filter. The K&N is my choice and this winters mod. Alot cheaper too.

no. I didn't really care for how the HC looked. To each his own i guess. I can't tell you it improved hp and gas mileage because i have a carb and you have FI. When I installed the BAK I also rejetted my carb and my gas mileage increased from 32 to 48 mpg. You can't go by that becuae my bike was jetted wrong anyway.

Get what you like, the Pro series will give you more than enough air.The bottom is also open to give you more breathing. It does stick out about an inch and a half more than the BAK.Or go with the $45 cobb job. Any of them will work.

To each his own right I was on the fence and just ordered the Pro-R Hypercharger.. Installed it this afternoon. It does stick out a little bit but it doesn't bother me. I've sat on a R* with one mounted and didn't think anything of it... Both the BAK and HC are going to provide plenty of air for the bike. Fuel mileage differences with both will be negligible as will performance. I think a BAK equipped bike vs. a HC equipped bike with all other things being equal will 0-60 nearly identical. Unless you're getting into the engine and adding Speedstar Cams, Throttle body and High Flow Injectors either airkit is going to work very similar... IF you we're doing the Speedstar intake mods I would reconsider the BAK...
