Change oil back? 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I had starting problems back earlier in the winter so I took the bike down to dealer and had them put in lighter oil.

This winter has turned out to be exceptionally warm for this area and Sunday when I rode I noticed the engine making more noise than usual.

Do you guys think I should go back to the heavy oil? I just don't know squat about this engine, but now I'm worried I am running too light of an oil because of the warm winter. I was going to wait to change back until march.

If you all think I would be better off running the 50, I'll make an appointment today to take it down to the dealer and have it changed back.

I don't have time to mess with changing it myself, I rather have them do it and pay the money.

If your running 10w40 your ok. When these engines get hot they are alittle noisy. Give a listen.

I always run 20/50, but in East Texas the climate isn't to harsh, unless your in the dead of summer.

If it is the starting issue your worried about, I would recommend upgrading the starting system. I did the full upgrade (starter, solenoid, big battery, and wires) and it mad a WORLD of difference. I just hit the start button and it has no hesitation now.

Ha! I gave a listen, sounds just like mine. I'll leave it in through this month, then change back at the end of the month.

The starting problem showed up at below 30 degrees, starts fine with the thinner oil even at 30 degrees.

I guess I worry too much, but I got a s*&# load of money in this bike.
If it wasn't for this forum, I'd probably worry myself to death.
