Help! Manifold Vacuum hose! Where does it go? 1 Year, 3 Months ago
I'm putting my carb back in and I noticed the long vacuum line coming off the top of the intake manifold, but I don't know where it goes. Little help? I do have my AIS removed if that matters.

Thanks!

It goes to the AIS. Shorten it and plug it or put a vacuum cap on the nipple.

Really? My AIS has always been removed, and to the best of my knowledge, it's never been plugged. wouldn't that seriously effect everything?... OR wait, I do have a Hyper charger, Come to think of it, doesn't it connect to the butterfly valves on the front of the intake?

Yick, Hyper Chargers are the worst almost as bad as the stock air box. I'd seriously consider putting a different Air Setup on the bike.

Gotta admit, not a huge fan of the HC myself, but more for aesthetic reasons, however it's what came with the bike. Sounds like I have another reason not to like it.

Curt, just curious but, would I be better off capping the vacuum line and just let the butterflies hang free? The don't look like they do anything anyway and the scoop is useless as a ram because there are big gaping holes in the back of it. I think the whole thing is just for looks and the only thing that actually makes it any better than stock is the K&N. But that's just this riders opinion and I could be completely wrong.

To be perfectly honest, I'd prefer something like the teardrop style of the S&S filter, or something oval like yours. But considering the cost, it's kind of far down on my list.

Re:Help! Manifold Vacuum hose! Where does it go? 1 Year, 2 Months ago
You are correct in my eyes. I bought one a long time ago to replace my OEM filter. The dealer jetted it and I ended up with SVS at 3000 miles. They tried to jet it 5 times and every 1000 miles I would get SVS. I finally sold it to some sap on e-bay that thought like I did that it looked cool. I bought a BAK and got it jetted right the first time. I later got tired of trying to keep the BAK from getting scratched and got the one I have now. The RA-077V was on my 07 and it is 3"W x 4 1/2"H x 7"L which is about 59 sq in. The BAK is about 54 sq in. The RA-66V, RA-077V, RA-76V, RC-1980 and several others are $45 or less. I have the RA-76V on my 05 because the 77V hit my leg with the forward controls. Here is the dealers site.

When you say RA-76V do you mean RA-076V?

What did you do about mounting? Is it a direct plug-n-play or does it require fabricating?

Do you happen to know what the difference is between the RA-076V the RC-1980 and RC-2000? They all say 2 inch high 7 inch oval. Is it the opening on the carb side that's different?

Lastly, what do you do about rain? Do you use one of those rain socks or do you not worry about it?
