Well it's all finished.

I took it out for a spin last night and it was a blast. The wind was blowing 40mph and it didn't bother it a bit even coming from the side. Even with the wind and the pipes the stereo sounded good and I could hear it well. It streams Bluetooth from my phone so I use it to listen to Pandora internet radio, the phone GPS will announce directions through the speakers, and it can take calls through the stereo... I just don't know where to mount the microphone.
The stereo also comes with an App for your phone so you can control it from the touchscreen on your phone.

That's a lot of stereo features and only 99 bucks at Crutchfield

are you using the factory front springs or did you get heavier duty ones? if you used factory, Can you feel a difference on the front springs? What stereo did you go with from Crutchfield?

ya know I was pondering the exact same thing last night
My bike spends more time parked in front of the wildest bars in some of the seediest areas in Mex, than it does in my garage
I'm surprised I still have a bike at all

yup factory springs
I noticed at a stop the front end is heavy, I didn't notice any difference in handing while driving
The fairing itself is light... it's the speakers that are a little heavy

The stereo is JVC KD-X50BT

Here the link... http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDX50BT/JVC-KD-X50BT.html?search=JVC_KDX50BT&skipvs=T

you really can't beat it
it's a digital media receiver, no cd, no detachable faceplace

Stevie: with the stock batwing risers, does the fairing fit snugly over the headlight? This is the first I've heard of the issue with the risers getting in the way.

I wondered why some of the photos on Reckless's website showed some with a huge gap between the fairing and the headlight and some with none at all. I'm looking for the snug look and hope I don't have to shell out for new risers to get that.

Also, I hope mine gets here half as fast as yours. I called reckless before I ordered and was told its currently 10-15 business days before they even ship! This was last week. That means its not getting here til early or mid May, which kinda sucks.

there are four mounting positions on the brackets… forward, back, higher, and lower

by the far the most esthetically pleasing is lower and back which allows a tight fit round the headlight.
the fairing will hit the front of the stock risers in that position think you slot the mounting holes in the bracket and find a good comprise.

I had ordered used Yamaha Venture risers because I was told her in advance about the problem... thanks grinder and pigpen

you may want to get some and have them waiting in the wings.
it was also posted right here that other risers will work for you also, I had already ordered the ventures so that's what I'm going with

Rekless told me the same thing about the shipping, but they shipped in two days and it got here in no time
have faith brother
