S.O.S all roadstar gurus...HELP 1 Year ago

I still haven't solved the issue with my signals, speedo, odometer, clock & fuel gauge working imtermittenly or they work until i touch the brakes(front or rear) the brake light and horn will not work at all. I have opened the wiring harness,no naked wires & no obvious signs of grounding/arching. the headlight is off,no signs of arching. had the battery load tested- it's good.I have checked the fuse block, 14.47 volts. checked the main fuse-good, the headlight, passing lights & running light work as they should. I have replaced the turn signal relay, problem still exist. I know the igniton ignitor produces a charge to the coils which improves spark on the plugs. does the ignitor produce a eletrical charge that's distributed thru the harness which provides power to stuff that's not working right?i just don;t feel that the problem is in the harness. I have moved, wiggled, created slack, created a bit of tension on the harness & still haveing issues with the thngs i mentioned. this electrical issue has caused me to chase my tail for 2 weeks now. I have watched a few videos about the ignitor. the videos are showing the voltage on a multi meter, turn signals working, horn working, tail & brake light working..etc.. my thought is why are those things being pointed out unless the ignitor has some bearing on them. thanks for any input, advice, direction in advance.

bonzaiii, your bike is a 99 ? mine is an 01. i just wonder if something that controls electrical in the early years of R* is faulty or just wears out quickly. my bike only has 15k miles which i feel is low being that it's 11.5 years old. if you find the problem & resolution. please, please & yes i am begging let me know.

I am shooting in the dark here, but have you physically eyeballed all of your #1157 dual filament light bulbs to make sure one of the filaments hasnt broken and shorted to the other. I have seen cases where that has caused weird things to happen before.

hotrod, i have. man i have every light open, wiring harness open, turn signal housing open, all relays open, diode open, ecu out from battery area, fuse block loose, horns disconnected, rear wiring harness disconnected.
once i figure the problem & fix it. I'll need several hours to put everything back in place. this electrical issue is a pain in the ass.

I hope you haven't tried to put LED bulbs in any of the sockets, like the brake light,I have heard that they can cause shit to happen if you don't put a load equalizer in line with the Led bulbs.

Have you tried pulling 1 fuse at a time to see if you can narrow down what circuit is causing the issue? Or unplugging 1 switch at a time to see if you are getting feedback thru a bad switch?

dave, i have tried that too. i could be wrong. but, i'm starting to lean toward a bad ecu/ignitor.I'ver already spent $150 for parts that didn't fix the issue. I hate to spend another $100+ on ecu to test with and it turn out not be the ecu/ignitor. i'm throwing electrical parts at it which is expensive. but, still cheaper than paying an hourly rate to have someone else troubleshoot it. anyone have a 99-03 ecu that would be willing to part with and let me test with. i'll pay for shipping both directions and buy someone a 12 pack beverage of choice.
