electrical issue resolved thanks to Rev. 1 Year, 1 Month ago
I pulled wiring harnes apart, pulled headlight, ordered & changed turn signal relay, odered used signal switch. lost countless hours or sleep & 3 weeks riding time all because of a faulty/bad fuse.visually the fuse look fine (no burns or breaks)Rev & talked about all the things i checked for continuity and voltage. my answeres to his questions were "yep, did/checked that, it tested good......until he asked if i checked the fuse for continuity. "no, didn't do that cause the fuses aren't burnt or look broken. Rev pulled the signal/dash/brake light fuse and hooked multi meter to it, no continuity. I handed him another fuse out of the brand new pack of fuses (the same pack the faulty one came out of) Rev tested it, has continuity. Rev then inserts the fuse into the fuse block & turns switch to on position. I have brake light now. He plugs in the dash all dash lights & gauges work. He & I spend the next hour or so putting everthing back together & then go ride. I would have neer figured the crazy issues I was having w/out Rev's help. Although I wasn't able to locate & fix the problem. I gained alot of knowledge about the wiring of a R* with my attempt to fix the issue with the guidance of the clinic. Thanks to all that gave me directions in my troubleshooting effort.Rev, Thank you again. I really appricaite your help. If you or your wife ever need any computer work done.Let me know, I owe you brother. Next time I'll come your way if only to go riding.

yeah, I had a similar problem with a blade fuse, looked good visually. But everything kept pointing to the fuse, so finally dug out the meter, yup...bad fuse.

Yrs ago, worked in electronics (telecommunication component level repair)went to power up a unit, dead....sure indicates a bad fuse for this type unit. Checked it in circuit, fuse shows good, power-up again, still dead, take fuse out this time, still shows good, solder it back in, still dead, ok, replace fuse, unit turns on. Hmmm, dumbfounded, look at fuse on bench, shows good, take out new fuse, solder in old, dead! Put new back in, works. Was the only time I've ever seen a fuse test good and yet not work. Welcome to the wonderful world of electronics!

Awesome news rballew!

I'm sure the whole clinic was rooting for you to get the issue solved. That bike is way to pretty to just sit.

Rev, you and so many others here are what this clinic is about.

When you eliminate everything it cannot be... what you have left is what it has to be. Sometimes even the stuff you can't believe it is ... is the problem. Glad you fixed it.
