I rode today with my buddy that used to have a VStar1100 and he always said I would pull away from him like he was sitting still. He has a sports bike now and we got on it today on a straight stretch. I stayed right with him thru 3rd gear and he started pulling away when we hit 4th and I reached 5K he was at 8K and his red line was 12.5K.

Yea top speed they definatly have us. But off the line, unless it's a liter bike, we pretty much have that all to ourselves. Especially those of us with even the modest of bolt ons. I'd love to see some of you guys with the bigger carbs, or you 110ci guys, you guys are just in a class all your own...

I don't know, I know mine feels like its the strongest pulling bike on earth, but my buddy's Roadliner with Patrick's Racing intake and 2 into 1 exhaust would downright spank my Roadie, and give our buddy's VROD a run for its money until you got to triple digits. And I mean no contest with me. THAT was a fast cruiser.

I had to laugh one day, though. I normally don't really get into it with other bikes, but I pulled up next to 2 guys on Big Dog Choppers one day at a light on 4 lane divided highway, all of us were 2-up. I wasn't planning on racing until I hit 2nd gear and saw that they were, and so I rolled it on. They beat me to the next light by probably a couple bike lengths and gave each other a fist bump, like they had just accomplished something. I about fell out. Way to be proud of beating a guy who rolled into the race in 2nd gear on a bone stock (besides pipes,) tall windshield, full saddlebag, tour pack, $10k bike with your $40k 117ci chopper.

Next time me and my buddies race and beat some guy on a Vespa I'm gonna go for a fist bump.

Very odd...I also have a stock honda cbr (600cc) and it will blow the doors off of my roadie. The chick must not know how to drive a sportsbike.

+1 or unlike the guy on the Roadstar, she was being responsible and not driving like an idiot. Any 600cc class sportbike will walk off from a Roadstar in first gear. Now if it was a 250cc then yeah you could take it.

I hear yah, I had an R6 that could hit 100 mph before the end of a freeway onramp. ...Not that I ever did that mind you, ...but it could. As for my R*, it's torquey no doubt, but it couldn't manage that to save my life.
