As Lee Iacocca said: "Small minds need big offices."

If anyone is willing to spend the time to minimize or belittle you or something you have, you or it is a threat to them. When someone truly doesn't care about someone or something, it never enters their mind.

Another quote (paraphrased) from Booker T. Washington: 'Those intent upon holding someone down in a ditch has to stand down in that ditch with them.' In other words, they've got waste some of their own time to keep you down. It must be pretty important to them.

Very well said,Ricohoc

The only time someone said anything about to me it was someone who doesn't even ride. Go figure

I have never had 1 H-D rider say anything except nice bike

I would like to think that most of them are good people and most that I know are. With every group you have the A holes and I have come up against them on a few occasions myself, hard starts due to the carb puking issues but here is a good one that some of you may not know. That same group looks down and and gives thier own kind the sams crap they give us. My brother ownes a Night Rod, which has the HD name and most certainly the over inflated price tag and they give him shit. "Thats not a Harley" and "The engine is designed by Porsche"

Whatever, I just want to ride and have fun and I will still continue to stop and see if they are ok when broke down on the side of the road hoping it is one of the good ones that will except help instead of give attitude.

The snobs are bitter because they found out that "mystique" costs quite a bit per pound, and you are at the same show, with the same seat, and your price of admission is much lower. It's like they are the Star-Bellied Sneetches, and we are the no star having Mofos, and went out and got stars applied. They are not unique any more, and it kills them. Guess they'll have to get the stars removed. I'm sure H-D is trying to figure out that side of the Dr. Seuss tale right now.

Well I get really torn by this discussion as I own both a Road Star and an Ultra Classic. I love both and enjoy both. One of the big differences is that Harley promotes a lifestyle and culture with clothing, accessories, and advertising. Metrics not so much. Have you tried to buy a cool Star tshirt in some far away place as a momento of the occasion. Not happening, but I can buy a Harley tshirt anywhere I go even if they don't sell bikes they sell lifestyle. Some people really get invested in the culture and think it is important. I tend to ignore them and say nice bike.

It's human nature (unfortunately) for people to want to form groups and feel superior to those that aren't in that group. Like someone said above, that even applies to their "own." Ask any Sportster owner how they feel about their Harley. I almost cringe whenever meeting someone and they tell me with this sheepish look, "It's just a Sportster." Jeesh, how much crap have you taken that you're embarrassed to tell a Yamaha owner what you ride. I go out of my way to talk up their bikes to those folks, cuz it always sounds like they need a shot of confidence.

That's a good point actually. You can go to a plae where there aren't even bikes on the road, but I bet you cam still buy a hd tshirt. Not to mention, everytime I go down to my dads in charleston, sc we go by the hd dealer where he does his business, they all know him by name, and we both get a tshirt even tho they all know I'm on a metric. Granted I realize they're trying to convert me, but still. Walk into another brand dealer, buy 3 bikes, and see if they remember you a year later by name....

That has aggravated me at just about every Bike Rally. I don't even bother to look for "a cool Star tshirt" anymore.

It would sure be nice if they were available. A lot could be done with that star logo.
