I love Harley's and I really want a StreetGlide but it's not in the budget. I promised myself a SreetGlide for my 40th Birthday. I have 2 more years to get there but I doubt that I will get one then.

But why do you care what someone who you don't personally know feel about you or the type of motorcycle you ride?

I think way to much thought is given on this topic.

On the Harley forum's, do they ask why Roadie's hate Harley guys or are invious of people who own Harley's?

I'm not defined by the type of vehicle that I ride. I'm Ted, not the Roadstar guy. I also have a Chevy Trailblazer and two Trek bikes (1 mountain and 1 street bike). I'm not defined by those instruments.

I have an 8 year old, and the DR. still has some of the most fun stories to read out loud! Try getting a few adult beverages in you, and reading Fox in Sox. If anyone is "smoking" near you, they will probably piss themselves if they are a giggler!

when i see a roadie on the road, i pee on them and yell jap crap... - not really lol

having had both Harley and roadie and now 2 harleys (street glide and a roadking), you def see the clickyness with the larger groups, no doubt, but as mentioned here i can count only a few times that i personally seen someone comment about "jap" stuff and seem to be serious about it. I wanted to say hey dude take your seat off, and tell me what the sensor sitting there says on where it was manufactured.

as for the price, yes Harleys are alittle more ( comparing a softtail to roadie), but you get abs/elec cruise and since the touring models are in a diff category imo and have far far more comforts built in cant say they compare to the roadie in terms of comfort in stock form and the new 103 motors are yummy. Does that justify the 20k price tag on the touring models, not sure, but you dont hear me complaining about elec cruise that keeps its speed pretty good with elevation changes and auto volume radio when speeding up or slowing down with the stock radio or all the chicks that throw me their panties cause im rocking a harley.... (kidding)

you wont catch me shopping for harley clothing (tshirts ect), but you got to admit - its a successful clothing line.

I never hear anything out of those guys. Must be because I'm riding while they are sitting at the local bar/restaurant/HD shop. If they do speak up they get real quiet when I explain that I have a real HD chopper that I built with my hands not my checkbook.
Most people have no clue the actual genesis of how HD got where they are....and it was not by building great bikes. they are much better now than they ever have been but the "legacy" is something else completely. We have no legacy so they stare down there noses at us.

They hate us because they were born with an extra gene called Harletis Moronicus, which results in mild retardation. You can easily get these folks to be good, you just have to carry a tennis ball with you when you ride.

For me, it's not about a t shirt cause I have too many as is. I never come back from a trip and talk about going to the HD store. I talk about the waitress I flirted with or the cool people at the local bar I had a beer with. Or that smile you get when riding through the rain for hours and you see the blue sky ahead

But I'll ride with anyone that will ride with me

and roadies can do stuff too...

I went to bike night last night with a Road Glide, 3 crotch rockets, and a Buell. The Buell guy (his bike has a harley engine in it) hates harley's, says you buy a $30K+ outfit and it comes with a crappy bike with 1950's technology. I laugh, but my buddies brand new Road Glide IS pretty sweet... I'm 33 and ride with guys that are older and younger, HD or not, pretty or ugly, just as long as they are cool.

There are your Harley Riders then you have your Harley Bikers. The big difference is one understands the cost of one and the other thinks "I didn’t know Harley made a Yamaha model."

I ride with a lot of Harley guys, one a former stratoliner owner. Most don't hate us at all. But the riders understand there is a premium. "There is a bike for everybody and there is a Harley for everybody" is a common phrase. It's no different with cars. BMW's usually cost more because they are nicer overall than let's say a Toyota. Harley is a premium product. Most people find the premium to not be of value, like many of the people here.

Really, many of the upper Harley bikes are superior to the Stars, they are. I've ridden both and done a lot of research and your nicer Harleys are nicer, but at a cost. I can't afford the Harley I want so I ride the next best thing (and I feel it's better than any Dyna and some Soft Tails). And their reliability is much better with the Twin Cam bikes. I've not seen a TC bike broken down yet. They also have a better aftermarket than most. Yamaha is the next best. Sorry, but that's a good thing for people like me who can bolt stuff on but not fab or do major engine work.

Now, the Bikers are into the CULTure. The idea of buying an American bike (though all Gold Wings are made here...). It's about the group. They are the people I don't like. My dad is one of them, but he at least respects the fact I don't have the money for a Harley, nor the time to justify that kind of money for one if I had it. For people like him, 20,000 is a slow year.

To end the rant, we all ride what we want and why we want to. The reason som e of "us" "hate" them and some of "they" "hate" us is ignorance, jealousy, and an over all idea that one thinks they are superior to the other for some reason because we all have different values.

Yeah, ABS, security system, 6 speed tranny, etc. without chaning the look of the bike is pretty impressive.

The ones that get me are people like my boss. Clutch cable breaks on his $25k 1000 miles on it rolling sofa HD. He rode it because it was a mandatory army. Instead of just buying a clutch cable and replacing it in the parking lot. He has the thing towed 20 miles so the "OFFICAL" HD mechanics can fix it.... know another guy who got apes and paid over 1000 dollars for the labor and parts. HD knew what they were doing racking in some big money....
