3 questions, No Genie 1 Year ago
1. Anyone have a stock, stage 1 or two exhaust to get rid of?
Mine has a leak at the top where the pipe goes into muffler and I can't seal it for nothing. (I have a spare stage 3 its too loud)

2. On the stock air cleaner there is a hose that goes into the front of the K&N then it goes back through the case towards the engine and mine dead ends there, sucking air. Where is it suppose to go? (I went to a Aftermarket air cleaner during the junk Ben Herr manifold nightmare and I removed something, can't remember, Not on diagram in my FSM.) Im going back to stock because it ran stronger and it was waterproof.

3, What jet kit do I get to go back to stock? Need needle too lost mine. (And 3 others)

My bike is running terribly weak and puffy. No backfire, no smoke, no SVS and no idea. Changed plugs, Nope, Re jetted nine times, runs fine all nine ways. (nothing I do changes anything very much. At a loss. 50 K all I can think of is maybe needs Overhead done. But It ran fine before I put the Progressive springs in. Did that change the float?

Bikeless and two weeks from vacation.

Re:3 questions, No Genie 1 Year ago
Ill take a stab at the second question trace it back to its its begining, if its coming out of the the back of the front valve cover its the crankcase vent. If its off the carb my guess its the carb vent. The crancase vent should be vented to a filter of some sort. The carb vent can just cut short and vent to atmosphere, make sure it dosent kink or pinch off. Those are both suggestions for an aftermarket air kit, if you need stock routing let me know ill look it up in the manual.

edit; just a thought have you messed with or checked ths connections on your coils??? if they are stock sometimes they have a nasty habbit of working loose in the earlier r*s fought with a similar dillema when I got my 2000 roadie the coils have two spade connecters on each on that rattle loose took a while to narrow that one down but just to eliminate the easy if similiar set up give em a look

as far as jets go stock jets are mikuni if you need sizes holla easy info to find

Ms17,

I suppose you could pick a needle up at the dealer or order it cheaper.
NEEDLE SET 4WM-1490J-00-00 $14.30 list

My 07's jets are stock with a 182.5 Main Jet and 35 Pilot Jet. In case you can't remember where they started out at. Mine is getting 48-49 mpg and running well with stage 1 stock mufflers stock air cleaner. I'm at pretty much the same altitude as you over here in Alliance.

Note: There is a difference between 1600 and 1700 stock mufflers. Notice the size difference in the center baffle. 1600 on the left 1700 on the right.

Click on the thumbnail to see full size:

Air cleaner hose routing can be seen in this pic. The stock air cleaner is pulled away from the carb with the hoses attached and notations in pic.

Maybe you made a good diagnosis with the Progressive springs if it lowered the front.

good luck sorting it out.

Learn something new every day.

I had NO IDEA the 1600 and 1700 stock exhaust were different at all. Thanks for the pictures. A;ways worth 1000 words.

PM sent on the 07 Exhaust. And the needle and Jet thanks.

No the PMS is a MAXAIR and it's hanging in there fine, love that thing! Everyone should have one like that.

Checked the Coil wires, ok, Switched out the E 3 back to IRidium and right away I was like, OK, Back to E 3 next chance. (Not as crispy)

I maned up on the exhaust and put some goop on it and tightend it until I about turned the whole bike in a circle. Better, a lot better. But I still need a new one. Even just the mufflers would do. I have the others plus a spare set.

OK THANKS on where that hose goes, NOW I remember I put a filter on that line and ran it down the down tube. SO with that info I just blocked off the hole on the Stock size K&N and put it all back.

It ran absolutely perfect! It must have been the exhaust leak and that Hose drawing air combo. I think I still need to go a little fatter on the jet, But I rather have needle I know where it came from, my kit is Fankenkit and I have no idea what is what, its all mixed up and I lost my Fave needle.

I did ride, and it did not choke up or pop and throttle was crisp. Like a Maricle! It has never ran that good in this kind of heat.

So I have been up over 24 hours, Came home and decided to take it for a test run after
