Re:I have gone to the Darkside... 12 Months ago
I am new to the forum rode bikes from 15 to 25 then nothing. I accuired my 2002 roadstar Mid night edition in Nov 11 put new tires on and 4500 later I need a rear tire. I ride daily. Started out to New orleans yesterday and realized I best not try it on the rear. sucks ruined my weekend. My question is what about this Austone tire on a spoke wheel. should I buy the tube for the tire or will my tube I have work. I see those in this have spokeless wheels. Any thoughts.

Black Roadie, I bought what the original owner recommended which is what the bike came with dunlop front and rear 404's I got them from Bike Bandit. I had them mounted and balanced and I installed them myself and I made sure rear wheel was aligned properly, I dont ride hard BUT I ride roughly 80 to 100 miles daily unless I know its gonna rain. And I must say the front tires is not far from needing a new one either. I cannot afford tires every few months. I dont remember putting tires on that often when I was alot younger and rode them alot harder.

I believe ya...I ll never buy another dunlop or bridgestone again. Few years ago i got about 7k out of each but they were so cupped it was crazy..and Im a stickler for watching air pressure.

YUP it was cupped pretty good too. And yup I checked pressures everytime I got on it. But even at 10,000 miles i would be putting tires on at least 3 times a year. if my current amount of miles keeps up. I truly enjoy ridong my son and my daughter love riding with me too. Anyone have any thoughts on the tube I should use with spoked wheel and the austone tire.

Georgeherrin, I have my CT mounted on a spoked wheel, just use the same size tube that you would other wise.

Also don't use balance weights, use dyna-beads, 2-3oz will do just fine, put them in the tube before you mount the tire (makes it easier to get them all in). I also inflate my tires with Nitrogen, and never have to worry about tire pressure.
