There was only a few people who ever posted with a problem and I'm not aware of anyone who had it fixed that has had a problem.

If the dealer does it right you have a tranny that will last just as long as a tranny that doesn't need the recall. And they last a long time.

I have heard from various stealerships that the bikes that have actually experienced the rear tire lock up were bikes that were drag racing, towing trailers etc. The chances of your circlip breaking is little to none. That's what I was told by a certain St.Paul stealership. May be true, I don't know. All I know is the next time I road the RS, I couldn't get the idead of locking up on the interstate out of my head. I had it done immediately. Since getting new gaskets, rings etc., I seem to have a little more gittyup. Plus a reassuring feeling of new circlips.

I've put over 40,000 miles on my '03 after having the transmission recall work done by the local dealer. Never a problem. I think my '02 is just about bullet proof. Never a bit of problem other than worn clutch cables, oil change, new tires, and spark plugs. Had a tail light go out once; does that count?

Welcome dmorse,

My transmission recall was done on May 2004, at the time my bike had 14,000 miles, and 29,000 miles later, still no problem. If I were you, I wouldn’t loose any sleep over this. I’m sure you’re goanna love your new Silverado. In my book, a 3000 miles bike is a new bike.
