Thanks for all the replys. I was kind of thinking what you all said. Sounds like the 8,500 was a good offer but I will still have to pass. The bike is paid for and i don't need the cash I just have absolutly no time to ride now and probably won't for the next ?? years. So I will let it sit in the garage and try to get it out at least once this year. Hate to see it sit unused it's such a great bike but at the same time if I can't get at least 9,500 for it it's worth it to me to sit on it.

Again thanks for all the input i'll leave the adds up at the 9,500 and if someone wants it for that they can have it. I also have it listed on craigslist that I would trade for a fishing boat of equal value maybe that's the way to go!!

Ian

I was in the car business for some 24 yrs...and a general manager told me once that the best offer was your first offer..
I also had a boat that I used in the charter business....all decked out...pod...4 stroke yam 200hp...9 hp yam...hydraulic steering...radar arch..radar...electronics..flush toilet..yada yada yada....anyway...took the $19000 offer cause I wasn't going to be worth any more $$ sitting in my drive way for another 2-3 yrs...
you have to make that decision..keep it or flog it..that's all there is....IMHO

You are right. I can see now that the 8,500 was a very fair offer and I don't expect to get a better one but the bike is worth more then that to me. I know it will be worth less as time goes by but when i'am ready to get back into riding I will have a almost new bike sitting there waiting for me. Next year I will be able to ride back and forth to work at least.

Just cherish all of the time you have and make the most of it. Bless you and your family.

I picked up my bike after looking and looking, making offers and getting beat. Mine is an '03, had 14k on it, looks runs and rides great. I picked it up for 4k. Had new - bags, V&H pipes, rear tire, hypercharger.

The day before I bought I was going for an '05 Kaw 1600 w hard bags, trunk, and windshield, big seats and extras. That bike was 'new' had 2300 miles and guy wanted 6k. He told me he sold it just before I headed out. A week or so ago he called said his buyer never came through with the cash. I told him I bought a RoadStar.

I like my Roadie too much!

If your going to ride it few and far between times, then the next time you fill it up add something to stabilize the fuel if you haven't already...I mean something real good. Seafoam is far better then nothing for really long term immobility, but I think BG makes a product that is even better from what I've heard. It's supposed to be tailor made for extended periods of inactivity. Sorry I don't have the name. Boats and bikes suffer most, from lack of use(not counting abuse).

Good luck with your boat purchase......hint...buy used . There are as many boat owners who buy new, and only use the boat a few times as there are motorcycle owners. Boats and bikes both, lose about half their value in a really short time. Usually you can measure it in feet from the front door of the dealership. Let the scooter value lesson, guide your search for a boat.

Mods on boats and bikes are worth about the same thing. If you were going to do it, it adds value. If not their not worth anything.

Don't buy more boat then you need, but buy as much boat as you will realistically use, and is safe for the kiddies......you can always move up if it turns out to be a great idea.

Kids love the water, boats and fishing, but it is time intensive regarding using and maintaining. Having a spouse who's heart is really in it, and not just along for the ride helps a bunch.

Good Luck.

Roadstars are the best deal around when it comes to used bikes. Ive been trying to sell mine for a month , asking $4100 ,650 vstars go for that. Been gathering ideas to convert her into a bobber , I aint giving her away , shes been too good to me. Point is , if youre gonna sell be prepared for some low low offers , even the sacred hardleys dont hold their value these days.

I have time just not for riding. My 2 year old son had a heart transplant in April and I want to spend as much time as I can with him and my other 2 kids for now. Life is short and after a heart transplant it is even shorter so I decided I needed to find something the whole family could do together. We all like to fish and thought a boat would be a good investment for us. However you are right about a friend with a boat. Maybe I need to hang out at the boat launch and find the guys with the nicest boats and make some new friends!!!

Maybe look into a nice Side car, then the kids can ride with you....jus sayin

There's a difference between need to sell, want to sell, and for sale.

If you need to sell because you're about to lose your house for non-payment of your mortgage because you lost your job, adjust your price so that it's better than others, it will sell the fastest.

If you want to sell to fund another toy or project, adjust it below most, but not to low. It'll take a little longer to sell.

If it's for sale, it's simply "I don't need or want to sell it, but if someone comes and hands me this much money, i'd be willing to take it." Put your price in, say firm, say offers below that price will be deleted, offers above that price will be considered.

I have a couple things for sale on craigslist. If someone offers me something insulting, I return the favor. Here are some of my prefered lines to use:
Eat my a$$.
I hope your house burns down and you get cancer.
That's how much I charge your mother to plow her from behind with a bag over her head. Without the bag is extra.

Essentially, if they've insulted me, I'll do my best to get as crude as possible. It makes me feel better and it might motivate them to stop insulting people if they don't want to be insulted back.
