You are right. I can see now that the 8,500 was a very fair offer and I don't expect to get a better one but the bike is worth more then that to me. I know it will be worth less as time goes by but when i'am ready to get back into riding I will have a almost new bike sitting there waiting for me. Next year I will be able to ride back and forth to work at least.
If your going to ride it few and far between times, then the next time you fill it up add something to stabilize the fuel if you haven't already...I mean something real good. Seafoam is far better then nothing for really long term immobility, but I think BG makes a product that is even better from what I've heard. It's supposed to be tailor made for extended periods of inactivity. Sorry I don't have the name. Boats and bikes suffer most, from lack of use(not counting abuse).
Good luck with your boat purchase......hint...buy used

. There are as many boat owners who buy new, and only use the boat a few times as there are motorcycle owners. Boats and bikes both, lose about half their value in a really short time. Usually you can measure it in feet from the front door of the dealership. Let the scooter value lesson, guide your search for a boat.
Mods on boats and bikes are worth about the same thing. If you were going to do it, it adds value. If not their not worth anything.
Don't buy more boat then you need, but buy as much boat as you will realistically use, and is safe for the kiddies......you can always move up if it turns out to be a great idea.
Kids love the water, boats and fishing, but it is time intensive regarding using and maintaining. Having a spouse who's heart is really in it, and not just along for the ride helps a bunch.
Good Luck.
