You can see the fabrication process now. Click on "MySite" at the top left of my sig picture and then click on the projects button. Scroll to the bottom of the second page and click the "LowerFab" document. It is a word document and will open in word. This will give you an idea of how they are made and the work that goes into them.

I have almost got my own made from Curts plans. I can tell ya first hand, it aint an easy process. I polished until the aluminum was so hot I couldnt hold in gloved hands so I quit Only have to flame polish the edges of the plexi and about 1/3 of each of the brackets left to polish.

Curt you should try cutting a few pair of plexi pieces with a jig saw Only plan on cutting a few more than you need

I was provided the plans. Thought it would be a fun project to try and make...

Other's recommend just ordering them from Curt. So I did. Love them and couldn't be happier.

My advice.... you'll be happy with what Curt can build for you. This should be a "no brainer" and just order them from Curt.

Try doing it when it is 100* outside in my garage. That's why I only weigh 160 lbs.

Curt that's really quite impressive. Now I feel doubly bad about making you do it twice. Expect another pm!

Re:4 all with My Lowers 11 Months ago
I got Curt's lowers and they looked great. I bolted the left one up and turned the bars - wouldn't you know it? Doesn't fit! I had a split second where I thought that Curt doesn't know what the heck he's doing! Then I tried out the right one and that one fits - but there's a big gap. I know that these are a matched pair, so I got up on top of the bike and looked down at the big bar. The durn thing's BENT! Who knew that putting on new lowers would take me a good hour of messing with my floor jack and three pieces of scrap lumber to bend it kinda straight again. Long story short (TOO LATE ), nice work, Curt!

Because they "didn't fit" and this 10 minute job was already taking WAY longer than I expected, I decided to take the time to paint the frame and tint the plex to match my shield. Looking good.

Thanks, Curt!
