By the way, one of the other new guys was ring a new Vaquero, OMG! I think I know what my next purchase is going to be. Nice bike and H2O cooling.

ride one on a hot day before you buy one. they are K series BMW hot or even hotter from the riders seat. like the bike, but hate the temp it runs at.

it´s probably the same as the tc96 and tc110 engines. set up lean to get them through the emissions regs anong with restrictive filter and silencers. not a good recipie for a cool running engine.

prefer evo´s to tc´s any day of the week. started production as 80cu/i, and finished production as 80 cu/i. nice engines. just change the oil when it´s needed and put fuel in it. best aircooled big twin they built IMO.

Still do from what I can tell. Is the odo connected to the speedo? Because if so I have less miles than the odo thinks (approximately 5 less for every hour ridden. That's how it works, right? )

So Kai, what you are saying is that they may have been running at 65 to 70 mph? If this is the case this guy needs to stick with only doing the Sunday ride to brunch!

Last June (riding by myself) from Lincoln, NE to Alton, IL (St. Louis area) and back on Hwy 36 I averaged 80 to 90 with 16" apes and no Windshield. I didn't have a problem except for the occasional large bug.

Have you noticed the relationship between speed and bug size? The faster you go the bigger the bugs seem to get?

A June bug at 80 sounds like a 2-base hit on a helmet!

I feel I should state ahead of time, I ride fast, I admit it. I always have. Blame it on my back ground in motocross and flat track, maybe. I have owned and built all kinds of bikes, from cafe to choppers, and sport to tour. Never makes a difference in the way I ride. It is what it is.

Today I was on a ride with a few guys, mostly friends I have ridden with for years, and a couple guys I just met today. We headed out to go see Dicky Betts play in Albany, about a hour ride. As usual I set the pace, mainly because I can't stand to ride behind other riders, I'd rather peel off and go it alone than fall in. Anyway, I would say I averaged between 75-80 mph. So when we get there, one of the guys I just met, riding a 110" ultra with a six speed, walks up and tells me I am "over riding" my bike, and that it won't handle cruising at "those" speeds". WTF?!! are you talking about? I asked. He says my bike is not geared for it. I don't have a tach, but I really didn't feel like I was beating it. I mean I would cruise my Warrior at 80 all day. So am I all wrong here, or am I going to destroy this bike?

Just finished a 3500 mile road trip to Texas
80 mph is the sweet spot for BigRed, mid to high 30`s mpgs.
And as a side note my cousin was on a 1200 sporty(which ran great as we switched once)
Can you say "Poser" for the Ultra Guy

I`m starting to wonder if this is true Kia
I checked my speedo against my cousins Sporty...
seem pretty much spot on(runnibg Conti Milestones)

I do know when your running 80 for a while 70 seems slow...lol

I've never checked anything on the bike, so this is just anecdotal.
I have the factory recommended size tires on my bike. Judging by how the traffic always runs around here in my PU, compared to the bike, I think my speedo's pretty close.
Hereabouts, 75 is the sweetspot with traffic. You pass just about as many as pass you. At 80, almost nobody passes me, and I pass almost everybody. At 85 I lead the pack and pass everybody. At 70, almost everybody passes me.
This is typical on I-10 down here in the panhandle
When I ride the scooter, I've noticed no difference. The odo on the truck is within 1 mph of being right on, according to Garmin when we take trips. If the speedo's off by much on this bike, it can't be much more then the truck.
If I run across anybody with a handheld GPS, I'll give it a check.

"Irishman", Vegasdave just finished a 3500 mile roundtrip from Lost Wages to Paris Texas??? and ran 80 almost all the time with no issues. He had a buddy with a Sportser riding with him.

edit....Dave, if you'd of got here sooner, I could have skipped this

What a douche pit! Hey, unless you have the Super Duper Ultra Screemin Beagle Elite Edition you can't keep up with me. Now pardon me while I go rub my genitals with my credit card I rode with one of those 110 Ultra's and it was everything it had to keep up with me, probably because there's 200 pounds of LOOK AT ME bolted to it
