I'm currently on the hunt for some hard saddlebags for my baby. I have the stock leather bags, but think they are way too short and fat to suit my girl so they are sitting on a shelf.

I've looked around on the interwebs, but haven't found anything that jumps out at me and screams "Buy Me!!"

So, give me your $0.02 please.

Key things for me:

Look (I want them to flow with the bike's lines)

Price (I mean...c'mon, I have better things to do then spend $1500 on a pair of bags)

Durability/Ease of Use/Mounting

Thanks!

Street glide bags with Bad Dad brackets, that is the way I am going.

yea. i have looked at it about 20 times this week me and him are emailing back and forth and he was kind enough to send me some pics of the brackets he built and gave me some advise on how to do it. they are gunna cost a pretty penny though $1600 for the bags and brackets and costs to adapt the brackets to fit my roadie . my bags are allready claimed so i guess i dont have to worry about that .

Jason, me thinks you cost me some cash this winter. The wheels are turning now!

Dont do it!! you see the video? I was gunna do the baddad set up till about a dozen people did it hear before me in my short stay here. And then with the whole narrow seat thing I have changed my mind and I will go with the strat deluxe bags biggest bags that flow beautifully with the fender I could find. They are just shy of the size on the royal bags but that built in filler panel is the cats azz.

Hmm, lots of interesting ideas.

Has anyone heard anything of Tsukayu bags? http://www.tsukayu.com

those look nice i assume your looking at the road star ones?

Yessir

I like the closeness with the fender and the curves.

Koolau, you won't know how close they come to the fender until you see them straight from the rear vs. at an angle...it always seems close but the darkness of thge bags and fender will create that illusion...

I really like my Tsukayu strong bags. They flow well with the lines of the Roadstar, don't make the rear look fat, and they are very roomy!

are these bags plastic or fiberglass? thanks bags and tourpak are next

Yes, as roadstarbone replied, they are hand laid fiberglass.

would you guys mind posting a picture of your bags straight from the rear. Want to see how far they are from the fender?

Just throwing my hat in the ring... See sig pict below.

These aren't "hard" bags per se, but they are rigid and can be hard mounted. As for do they "flow"? Well... they're not swoopy, but they do *compliment* the style of the R*. As for price, you cant beat them at $109 on ebay. To top it off, they are the roomiest bags I found.

You don't sacrifice inner space due to cut-outs for support brackets. They are versatile with both hard mount or throw over options. They have an external pocket up front and four internal pockets, [one on each wall]; which come in real handy. Best of all, they come with a *life time warranty*! That's pretty hard to beat.

Originally, I wanted hard bags, but couldn't afford the good ones, and those I could afford, were pretty cheaply made and flimsy. Given the price of these bags, I figured I could get them for temporary use until I could afford the good hardbags later. But now that I've had these bags a while, I don't think I could give them up! I love that I can reach around and get something out while sitting at a light. And the amount of space is incredible! I've fit a tent and sleeping bag in *one* saddle bag, with room to spare. Try that with hard bags. ... Just sayin.

I can't believe how much these fiberglass bags are; looking at at least $800 for a pair with lids and hinges. Even the Mutazu Vivid Black bags, that look like Harley bags, are almost $500! Then you gotta add hinges - and these are ABS; may as well go with the fiberglass ones for that kinda money.
Guess I just need to get LUCKY and find someone selling for $25.00... yeah, right!
